| [#22] Nuforce vs. Jeff Rowland I have compared jeff rowland continuum 250, Ayre (pre and power amp for arond 40K,model forgotten) and Nuforce P9+ Ref 9 mono, with the same speaker. Following is my own conclusion. JR: Biggest sound stage, almost as analytical as Ayre, but I can not stand its high pitch, it is way too sharp for me. Ayre: Most analytical and the placement of instrument is dead on, one of the most solid i have heard, but vocal is way too dry for me. Nuforce: Analytical ability and placement of instrument is about 10 percent below the above two, the presentation is also a tag thinner than what I wished, however, it does not has anything shortcoming that I can not bear, and so cash is laid, and I brought them home. |

| [#21] Nuforce vs. Jeff Rowland just briefly gone thru the 10audio review of nuforce i have a few questions: 1) how long burn in done to nuforce before the review? it has been discussed somewhere that nuforce needs long hours of burn in. 2) about their "LP" ratings. a nad c315bee obtained 8 "LP"s and a Wyred 4 Sound ST-1000 Stereo Power Amplifier obtained 9.5, while nuforce had 5. What scale is that? his subjective opinion? 3) has the reviewer considered the incompatibility of pre amp? speakers? or even cables? 4) class d amps have lower distortions. if reviewer is used to distortions from tube or class a/ab amps he may find the class d amps dry. he may get used to the class d sound? 5) ""To compare the $5,000 Nuforces to $15,000 reference amplifiers might seem unfair, but this is the playing field today at 10 Audio."" what playing field is that? why cant the reviewer compare with some other $5,000 amps and make a conclusion? 6) last sentence of the review: ""I am certain that one could assemble a musically satisfying audio system with the Nuforce Reference 9 V2 SE amplifiers. I suggest that it could then be a challenge to find a synergistic replacement."" what does that mean? good or what? what was he talking about? wouldnt this apply to other amps too? |
