Its good to see someone are use these balls, as I have use them all on my phono, preamp, power amp, cd transport and DAC, its cheaper than some other vibration system but effect is good. push!

MINI-CLOUDS (set of three) $100/set

For those who like BALLS ....:

"Even if you only have an entry-level high-end audio system worth $5000-$6000, say a Music Hall or Antique Sound Labs integrated amp, a Creek CD or Arcam CD player, a pair of Reference 3A Dulcet speakers on stands, cables, and power conditioning, a 20% improvement would be conservatively be equivalent to a $1000-$1200 upgrade, all for about the cost of a set of Mini-Clouds.

Here are the features of the Mini-Clouds:

*

They provide excellent vibration control performance at a very reasonable price point. In our vibration tests, the Mini-Clouds remove on average 95% of the vibration between 5 Hz and 500 Hz. This is compared to 98% for the Cloud 10, and 99% for the Cloud 11. So they go a long way in providing very effective vibration control at a reasonable price.
*

The Mini-Clouds can be placed anywhere under the bottom of the component to balance the load. In this sense, it even offers more flexibility than the Cloud 10 (with 15 positions for the dimples) and the Cloud 11 (with 10 positions for the dimples).
*

As it does not require the top platform, its profile is lower than that of the Cloud 10 or Cloud 11. This is especially beneficial when space is limited on the shelf.
*

As with the Cloud 10 or Cloud 11, the ball has an optimal load of 10 lbs and has a capacity of 20 lbs. So a set of Mini-Clouds is perfect for components weighing 30-40 lbs. For heavier components, simply add more Mini-Clouds (Mini-Clouds are only available in sets of three).
*

The bases are of double thickness with deeper wells and dimples (similar to the Cloud 11 bottom plate), thus providing a higher level of safety (the balls won't roll off of the dimples unless you deliberately push really hard). "

Review ...
Just for fun:

"Why did you choose acrylic as the source material for your Cloud 10 platforms?

Acrylic has a very dense and irregular molecular structure that is not very good at propagating sound waves. This is actually a good thing because you want to dissipate the vibration as best you can. The balls play an even more important role in the design. We tested many balls of different properties before settling on the one we use. Its selection hinges upon factors like optimum absorption quality in certain weight ranges and lateral movement under loads etc.

Since most gear will reflect the sonic signature of whatever it's placed upon, wouldn't acrylic create a rather hard sound?

The appearance of a particular material does not necessarily translate into how it will affect sound. Properties like resonant frequencies or how it transmits vibration really determine how it will perform. That is why we spent time doing vibration, noise and listening analysis to verify that it works - as opposed to guessing or merely claiming that it does without possessing the empirical data to back it up.

Please explain the distribution of the balls in the platform and the effect of minimum vs. maximum number of balls.

Even distribution of the weight over the platform not only helps in leveling the unit but also facilitates more uniform dissipation of vibrational energy. That is why we have multiple dimples in the bottom plate to allow the user to choose the best geometry for the ball locations. Changing the balls' locations may affect the sonic performance of the platform, albeit in minute variations. Instead of prescribing what is best, we simply let the user decide what performs best. As for the optimum number of balls to use, a good rule of thumb is that each ball has a maximum weight bearing capacity of 20 lbs. and has an optimum load behavior of around 10 lbs. So three balls (the minimum needed to balance the top platform plate) can hold a maximum of 60 lbs. and works best with a load of around 30 lbs. More weight will overload the balls and make the suspension too soft and unstable. Less weight will make the suspension too stiff. One of the reasons we chose these balls is because they perform best with the typical weight range of high-end components (around 30-40 lbs). If the component is too light, the user should mass-load it with additional weights to get into the optimum range. If the component is too heavy, more balls should be added to return to the optimized load values."

Cloud 9" Vibration Control Platform
PATENT PENDING

Cloud 9S

We are very excited to introduce a new Gingko product designed specifically for the popular VPI Scout/Scoutmaster. It is called Cloud 9S and it has several attractive features:

*

It features the double thickness base of the Cloud 11 for high performance and safety (the balls won't roll off the dimples)
*

It features a separate plate for the motor, further isolating motor noise from the plinth.
*

It provides dimples placed strategically to allow many ball position combinations to accommodate different weights from the Scout to the Scoutmaster with Super Platter (see picture below).
*

The balls support the bottom side of the plinth for a lower profile. The silver cone feet will go through the four corner holes and be lifted off of the shelf, further isolating the plinth from shelf vibration.
*

It follows the contour of the Scout/Scoutmaster plinth and is a perfect match visually.

U'r right. Since vinyl playback gear is very sensitive to both horizontal and vertical vibration. Squash ball and these elastic ball may have advantage to cancel out/diminish such vibration to make solid imaging.

CDP may benefit from this tweak as well but it may not apply on amplifiers.

Hi Vash, just read your message and know it will become "清爽了一點、多了丁點兒細節" when you use it with your phono. Is there be a big difference between them? I'm using a British cd player now.

WH

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Yes, 彈彈波 = 大力把它向下丟在地上時, 它會從反彈很高的那種.

For low frequency impact, it keep energy and rebound at once.

For high (or just relatively higher) impact/vibration, it keep some energy from the first impact and cancel out some later impact.

Anyways, just try try sin la. It is cheap.
