| [#336] Logitech Squeezebox Replacement Kuro Ching, That's most interesting and thanks for your reply, I have also setup an AUSU Ebox with Vortexbox and another Pogoplug with LMS other than the Synology, the power requirement on the Ebox is much higher than the pogoplug as a LMS. All my players except the synology are connected to a dedicated cisco giag switch, will put it on a 12VDC LPS too. My Pogo client that is runing Squeezelite is being powered by a 5V super regulator with R-core. P.S. Where did you buy the Supra Cat7 ? Thanks |

| [#335] Logitech Squeezebox Replacement Skylab hing, I've moved to LAN cable connection now. After months of experimentations, I found that 5m Supra CAT7 LAN cables to be superb sounding. Far better than wifi. I've 5m Supra b/w client and router and server and router. I've also moved to using Cubox Pro as a server, using eSATA 2.5" HDD with Cubox and HDD each powered by separately by batteries. The sound is very analog, similar to vinyl (LP) sound. Yes, server hw and sw config does affect the sound in an unimaginable way. The sound can still improve a tiny bit if you use a 5v gigabit switch to connect the Cubox and the Pogo client and the switch is also powered by batteries or linear PS. Next step is to build super regulator powered linear power supplies. I've the design tested, but thinking of building my own PCB and rear panel so that the LPS will look like a retail product. My LPS will use R-core transformer. Kuro |

| [#334] Logitech Squeezebox Replacement Hi Kuro Ching, It has been a touch time trying to find the correct Ralink 3070 for the pogoplug and I gave up on that. Finally got some time today and instead, I try something different by using a $160 travel size wireless router with USB power in repeater mode and connect back to the pogoplug using the lan port on the travel router. | [#328] Logitech Squeezebox Replacement I finally got mpd installed in my Pogoplug so I can compare the sound with Squeezelite. Server is another Pogoplug in both cases. Running both LMS and samba server. In my setup, I found that mpd has more bass, and less treble. As a result, the sound stage is less 3D with mpd, with less sparkles in the high. Otherwise, both players sound similar in terms of transient and dynamics. As for client, iPeng is definitely more feature rich than MPad. I don't like MPad not able to show the entire name of the songs in the album, especially when the album is a classical one with long names. |
