Was it swappable? ------------------------------------------- Yes. they are fully swappable. For Quad 22, each adaptor has its own matching pickup and tape input sensitivity. You buy the right pickup and tape adaptor for your cartridge and tape recorder. For Quad 33, pickup sensitivity is matched by using different sides of the PCB (there are 4 usable sides for a PCB) and tape sensitivity is matched by putting a screw into the proper place on the PCB. |

| [#76] Question on Quad 405 Surely QUAD amp IMHO can be 長插電源 if it was used at day-in-day-out radio broadcasting and continuous takes-after-takes recording or week-after-week mixing! Playing it by the book or not is up to the discretion of user. owner manual is just a kind reminder for safety protection sake (also a defence for QUAD factory against the tortuous liability by virtue of user abuse or misuse) but not a invulnerable and binding bible. As jcml said, do whatever if you think fit! ----------------------------------------------- You guys are right. I'm not a purist neither. Just use your Quad amp in the way that makes you happy but make sure you know what you're doing. Beware of some engineers as they may talk like an artist. They might say: After you've bought my painting, don't hang it on the wall upside down or add a sun at the top right hand corner...... (just joking).... |

As mentioned by John Atkinson in 2003, QUAD may stand for either "Quality Unit Amplifier Domestic" or "QUality Amplifier Domestic". It seems that the mainstream nowadays inclines to "Quality Unit Amplifier Domestic". Ken Kessler, the writer of of the official Quad Book, is one of the proponents. However, I myself vote for "QUality Amplifier Domestic".
