| [#3] Julius Futterman OTL Amplifier Futterman OTL time line http://www.meta-gizmo.org/Tri/nyal/nyal_art.html Late Julius Futterman designed and hand-made OTLs from 50's to late 70's - last being H3aa and circuitries then reached maturity and stable. Successor New York Audio Lab (NYAL) circuitry is very similar to H3aa but PCBs employed. NYAL went burst after short while. Excel represented NYAL OTLs in those days but supposingly only a few sets were sold. Master Yu still owns OTL2 (a sample intended for HK market (sadly aborted) at ultra rare 220V), triode OTL (10W) for Japanese market and he declines to part with it! Have experienced several makes including Atmasphere, Fourier and GM20 but none quite up to Futterman H3aa (220V) and OTL4 (117V)(both 90W). Mr Yu said tricks lie in 6LF6 output tubes! Luxman MQ36 (100/115V) employing 6336A (20W) is its true rival. So all these stay and play in alternate with other amps. People say Futterman OTLs are unreliable and unstable. | [#7] Julius Futterman OTL Amplifier Futterman amp 未曾聽過。。但。。 有幸在一次AES安排的胆機vs原子粒機声的討論會中遇見Harvey Rosenberg,即NYAL老細。 他那晚是host,埸地在NY某broadcast studio auditorium内。那時是AES student member, 當時在埸很多audio gurus,其中被介绍到Sid Smith時,只是shook 了hand and said hello politely,未知Marantz的來頭(^_^)""。.. 說回NYAL,之後我寄了一post card到Harvey Rosenberg想拿NYAL的catalog...很快收到他的post card回訊 (but no catalog sent~_~)。 出名跳皮的Rosenberg 在post card寫道: Dear CFT, Please send me YOUR catalog. Harvey Rosenberg President, NYAL Still keeping that post card today..haha. Anyway, somehow 他英年早sai！maybe possibly tied to the belly up of NYAL...-_-# |
