| [#1] Suggestion of High Sensitivity Speakers For matching with 845 based amplifiers (20W output), reasonable small footprint and high WAF(high wife acceptabce factor, what would you suggest? Ideally something in the 94-98 db range so that it is easy but not too sensitive to noise. Never play with full range or high sensitivity speakers so like to see what good options are avaialble. Thanks. |

| [#8] Suggestion of High Sensitivity Speakers I am using Verity Audio Parifal Ovation. It is easy to drive, and my wife did not reject it at all. The monitor version without bass module is also worth consideration. I was using JBL 4345 when I was being hunted by my wife. After I surrendered and she moved-in, she complained for the JBL for two years until I gave up one day and changed to a pair of slim but tall ProAc. But she loves the Parsifal Ovation's LOOK more than the ProAc. |

| [#9] Suggestion of High Sensitivity Speakers Not sure why you need a high sensitivity speakers...? If you intended to use it for tube amp, you don't need that high of a sensitivity. High sensitivity may (or likely) scream at you. For lower power amp, you need to worry or look at the impedance curve and phase angle (see if they cancel each other out at a certain frequency...) In general (very general speaking....), a 86 to 90 db will give you plenty of music at high volume... That range will give you a large number of speakers to choose from. If you insist a high sensitivity speakers, Triangle speakers will give you that, like 90 db or so... don't know anything at 94 db or so... |

| [#11] Suggestion of High Sensitivity Speakers There is a general mis-understanding between how "easy to push" and sensitivity. For tube amp, referring to low power tube amp, they "prefer" a more stable (less swing) impedance, unlike solid state amp, which can output more power when required... (it is required when the impedance curve and phase angle "cancel" each other out.) WHen that happens, you have signal loss at certain frequency.... So, in short, sensitivity should not be the number we should be looking at. Instead, the phase angle and impedance are... I am only an engineer and not a teacher, so won't be able to explain that well... Sorry. (Please look up information on the web for more explanation.) Peace. |
