| [#8] Dan D' Agostino Preamp There are no excuses to use all those cheap computer ribbon cables and their corresponding plastic pin connectors to conduct audio signal in such an expensive and exotic equipment. Those Oriental WIMA capacitors are also incorrigible, Spectral used much better coupling caps 20 years ago. Supporters will say, expensive components may not make good sound, but the opposite does not hold true-----junk components certainly affect sound negatively. Soundwise it is mechanical and unemotional, with a compromised microdynamics. |

For the sound you heard from the set you mentioned, it is a combination of different gears and cables, how did you draw a conclusion that the culprit is from the preamp alone? I heard the momentum combo set at 2 different occasions at different places recently, it is very neutral, transparent with full of micro dynamics .
