[#5744] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user I will try the shop on Monday. Otherwise I will try to look for them in China next week. |

[#5746] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Just bought the black 電木 this afternoon. It's 6mm thick and 28cmx103cm in dimension for a total of HK$220. So it should be enough for quite a few transformer covers for the LEAK amps. Also I bought 1 gallon of the tar paint (HK$48) as there is nothing smaller. And it should be enough for quite many coatings for the Leak transformers. So for anyone that need the 電木 and the tar paint, let me know and we can share instead of buying a lot again. Diytfy hing, how much 電木 do you need? |

[#5748] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Hi Yukclee hing, Thanks a lot. How about I share half of the 28x103cm with you? (that's 28x~50cm). Please PM me for a transaction meeting. I know you're very busy on trip. diytfy@yahoo.com thanks Eric |

[#5749] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Hi, diytfy hing. Ok, I will cut half of the board for you. Or if you can give me the dimensions, I can cut them for you too as I have the jigsaw. Tue. to Thur. next week is fine with me for a quick transaction meeting. I still remember our 300B meeting, but that has to wait until June...:-( |

[#5750] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Also got hold of some RIFA 47uF 100V caps today for replacing the electrolytics. Unfortunately can't find any 600ohm resistors for the KT66 cathode. Have to parallel two 1.2K to make 600ohm. |

[#5751] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user YC You can buy the RS resistor 600ohm : ) |

[#5752] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Modern resistors are either 620K or 680K. You can't find RS in 600K! :) |

[#5753] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Are the RS resistors from Wing Sheung of Ap Liu street? Really don't want to go directly to RS just for 4 resistors. |

[#5754] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Yes, that's what I found - only 620 or 560 ohm are available. So I will start with paralleling 1.2K AB 2W resistors first and then change to 620ohm RS, or Kiwame, or Ohmite later and see any difference. |

[#5755] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user YC, These are KT66's cathode resistors, i.e. that bias the power tubes. Instability will kill the expansive tubes! Be warned. Go for RS 620K or 680K @7W. A&B has 2W, the maximum, only and is, as you may know, unreliable at high temperature (7W!). |

[#5756] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user YC, On restoration of Leak TL/12.1, click the releavant website to know more about what components are OK or recommended. I recall: DIY of my cloned 12.1 had been my learning process. I am sure there are a lot more that I have not yet learnt. Read more! before you turn on the soldering iron. :) |

[#5757] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Thanks for the note. If I parallel two 2W AB, then it is 4W. Running 60mA through it will be about 2.16W. But I take your advice, too much heat for AB just will make it not so stable. I may opt for some 620ohm 7W resistor instead. |

[#5758] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user YC, Visit this website if you have not yet. http://werple.net.au/~kiewavly/TL12_restore.html A cathode resistor creates a potential drop that is eactly the negative bias of the tube concerned. The stock value is 600K, i.e. any cathode resistor which is lower than 600K will make the negative bias too positive, making excessive current passing through the KT66. The usualy current for KT66 should be below 60-65 mA. For this reason, it is SAFTER to use 620K than 560K. But I would recommend 560K for doubled safety of the expansive GEC KT66s! :) |

[#5759] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Typo: "But I would recommend 560K for doubled safety of the expansive GEC KT66s!" should read But I would recommend 680K for doubled safety of the expansive GEC KT66s! |

[#5760] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Thanks, Richard. Pointstaken. I will go for the 680 ohm cathode resistor. |
