[#5954] "Leaking" problem CKW I have several Leak Tube amplifiers and none of them have this kind of problem after 4-5 hours listening. You can send photos to johnkeung@hgcbroadband.com BTW, I did not audition any Leak TL/10 before. As a Leak fan, it is a regret : ) What speaker are you using? Curious to know : ) John |

[#5955] "Leaking" problem Ringo, Wax should not be the 'coolent' but the insulator of moist air, etc., and the stabliser for electronic components, e.g. air coils soldered onto a PCB. Check if the was came from the other components instead of from any of the transformers? If the PSTs on your TL/10 can be touched by your bare hands for at least 8 to 10 seconds, it is NOT too hot for such after 8 hours' use. Don't worry. |

[#5956] "Leaking" problem Check if the was came from the other components instead of from any of the transformers? ----------------------------------------------- Ringo - I could think of another possibility.. perhaps the PSTs on your TL10 had once been re-wound and wax been applied by the sifu. Normally, its should be 'transformer oil' (looks like lacqure) or black tar (e.g. in TL12.1). |

[#5960] Leak Club for Leak lovers "Good match with 12.1 or not????" Yes, these were the factory matched preamp for LEAK TL/12.1! But by now, most, if not all, of them should require rebuilding and replacement caps of the TCCs! In fact, one came with my TL/12.1 and the other came with NEC's TL/12.1, both from the UK! Difficult to find a mate and either me or NEC should sell my/his own unit to the other! :) ![]() |

[#5961] Leak Club for Leak lovers I believe these are the matching mono pre-amp for TL10.1 instead of TL12.1. ![]() |

[#5962] Leak Club for Leak lovers Tim, But indeed they came with my and NEC's TL/12.1. They are rather robust like a tank. :) |

[#5963] Leak Club for Leak lovers I think TL10 was designed and launched after these early version Varioslope II mono preamp was designed and launched. Of course there was an even earlier mono preamp, the Varioslope I, which I have one and which can be fitted to TL/12.1 at one side and the cage can cover both at the same time. Am I right? |

[#5964] Leak Club for Leak lovers My home, after the most of my collection have been moved out.. I discovered a very good but cheap speaker stand! |

[#5965] Leak Club for Leak lovers These pair of 'stands' are in fact a pair of pine wood shelves. Standing as shown, each has about 22" in height and sounds great! $99 each at 宜家! But good sound does not come naturally. You need to put three spikes between the floor and the pine wood shelf. |

[#5966] Leak Club for Leak lovers The 2 spikes at the front should support directly the screw heads and the third spike in the middle of the rear. No harm to try these shelves in the interim, particularly if you don't have the expensive Foundation Designer II stands. |

[#5967] Leak Club for Leak lovers Also, the shelves should be positioned as shown, i.e. the big hole facing you; otherwise, the bass will be blurred. |

[#5968] Leak Club for Leak lovers My Leak ST-20 is playing, JR149 on a pair of pine wood Ikea 'stands'.. driven by a DIY Jadis JP200 preamp clone. Sound is good. :) |

[#5970] Leak Club for Leak lovers Tim, I have one unit of this preamp as well and the matching LEAK cage which can cover both 12.1 and the fitted preamp at the same time. |
