This is a rare pair of genuine Parmeko UK made mono amplifiers designed for 10w per channel. They use PP pair of KT66 tubes for each amp wired in triode mode - I guess this accounts for the wonderful sound. (In many amp tests with friends these are almost always the winner when used with my Quad electrostatic speakers or LS3/5as.) These amps are very famous and well known among audiophiles so do a web search and you can probably fgind all the info you need. But otherwise ask questions and I will do my best to answer. This pair of amps is unrestored but have been brought into operating condition so they could be tested. As they are now they are in good working order but require some caps replaced to reduce the no signal noise level. Also there are no safe connections currently provided so you will need to ladd these yourself. (I have mains cords soldered directly to input under the chassis but it is not safe to operate them like this with children in the house.) They are sold for restoration and as-is but guaranteed all transforemers are in 100% working order. No tubes are included. They use a pair of CV1075s (KT66) a GZ32 or 34 rectifier, a 6SN7 and an EF86. The first EF 86 has already been bypassed and they have been modified to accept the input direct to the grid of the second EF86 which give a fairly normal sensitivity of approx l300mV for full output. Theyu can drive 15 ohm Tannoys very lound but will not cope with modern low impedance, low efficiency speakers so if you have such speakers please leave these for the vintage enthusiasts. These will have to be sent in two separate packages due to the weight so shipping will cost A$55 for Australia, A$310 for Asia and USA and approx A$455 for Europe. Please bid only to buy, not dream. The above image shows an A10 Mk1 power amplifier. Today, the control marked “balance” might cause some confusion as we tend to associate this with a stereo balance control used to adjust the relative volumes of the left and right channel. The A10 was, of course, a mono amplifier. The balance control was used to adjust the relative bias currents in the pair of output valves used. To obtain minimum distortion and maximum peak power it is desirable to ensure that the two output valves draw similar currents, so this control could be used to balance (equalise) these in order to optimise performance.
