" I shall do, particularly when I have more experiences working on and listening to JL's pair of 12" Monitor Gold in the soon future. It will be a long waiting for my own pair of Tannoy. It could be as long as what I had waited for my pair of Rogers LS3/5A No. 99/100 two years ago (and got them only last year). :( "How you feel my Ampex and 10 Globe the night before?" I found the SETA amp with 10 Globe sounds more relaxed than the Amperex 6L6 PP amp. But this does not mean PP amps are not good for Tannoy. JK's pair of LEAK TL/12.1 has proved its great matching with NEC's pair of Tannony 15" Monitor Red. BTW, I would suggest bringing your pair of expensive 12" Monitor Silver drivers to try in original Tannoy cabinets. Reasons: I am not sure if the potentials of the drivers have been fully utilized. These could be in JL's Chatsworth cabinets if JL does not object.  |

"" Richard & all, in fact my diy box is the third room for my 12" Silver. 1) box in original 12" corner Berkerley, that was Vincent's Silver units, unit same as mine. The sound is Tannoy's standard, however, there is no maze, no front, no back load. Obviously not the Vintage top of line architecture. 2) My 7-cubic-ft hexagonal Tower, I mount the Silver 12" in the middle of 2 passive 12" drivers. The bass and presence improve alot, I would say better than the corner, esp in sound stage, and smoothless. 3) existing diy box with front-back loaded horn. Quite ideal to tannoy maze box. If JL not object, I can bring my 12" Vitavox DU-120 for fun. I found the 'highs' of Vitavox not worst than Tannoy for sure. |
