Post a photo for your set up. If you use a marble floor, emply walls, not too many garbages at home, then ceiling treatment would not help.

Floor (closest to speaker drivers), then wall & sofa (this is where the speakers are pointing too), the bookshelves and ceilings.

Kenny hing, you should have read my settings before ~

The room is already filled with bookcases, but they're more diffusors than absorbers.

I have planned to treat the side walls with movable curtains. It's a must as well.

There're already very thick carpets on the floor. That has proved to have improved things significantly. But not enough since the ceiling is also very close to the drivers ...

Any experiences of ceiling installation please?

No experience on ceiling. I agree with your curtain approach... Otherwise, it is easier and cheaper to change to a floor standing speaker.

No problem :)

Changing to good quality floorstanders would definitely improve sound. But I am less sure if it would cure the reflection problem. As far as I know, dispersion problem is closely related to driver size and speaker design. The smaller the drivers, the more the dispersion of certain frequency range (related to crossover point as well). So my feeling is that I need to change to bigger drivers to have less dispersion. This was what I experienced with a 8-inch woofers 3 years ago - but that brings the boom problem in my small place. Changing to 'small' floorstanders with 5 inches woofer would make little change to degree of dispersion - of course, I would change to floorstanders with bigger drivers - 6 or 7 inches. But it seems to me the key issue is not about bookshelves or floorstanders but about driver sizes. Correct me if I have overlooked something.

RPG skyline can help. Use absorber panel on ceiling will make the sound too dead, unless you have 10ft+ ceiling.

房間大約是3.5m乘3.8m乘呎2.75m。9ft 天花，不是10ft. No serious boom since there are doors and windows letting some bass go away (my guess). Of course the small speakers are also a factor.

three listening levels:

Mild: Having extreme details. A bit bright.

Moderate: Having extreme details. Still a bit bright.

Very Loud: sound became less organized. I guess another factor comes in - speaker box vibration. This has to be cured by having more solid speakers, as Kenny suggested. But I seldom listen at this level.

I used the cushion-over-my-head approach just letting direct sound to my ears and blocking much reflections from the ceiling and side walls - the change is very huge. The brightness is gone. I found that is the sound I prefer (not the best, but much better with no blocking).

Gears:
Weiss Dac2
Parasound A21 power amp (250W per channel)
Sonus Faber Iron + Wood adjustable stand
Monitor Audio Studio 2 (the next target of change).

821 hing, I guess the issue not on the room but your gear setting.
1. Clearly your amp is not capable to control the speaker when play loud.
2. Your speaker sit on a wrong stand. As a ex-user of Iron wood stand. I can tell it is only good for SF EA or MA. I put my ex-Dyna S25 on it sounds bad but it is super good sound with SF EA. Suggest you buy a Monitor Audion original stand for Studio 2 is available.

My experience the reflex sound from ceiling will form the 包圍感 make you feeling inside the music without it just like watching TV or singer behind a glass.

FYI Weiss DAC2 sounds bad too!

Your speaker is bi-wired ? I feel it is your speaker causing problem than room acoustics. If your room is stuffed with carpet, books, curtain, it is almost impossible to have a "live" room.

路過插嘴, 望勿見怪. 高音太過光輝, 甚至吵耳, 小弟小小分享 ... ...

1/ 最懶又最平既方法, 係喇叭頂舖毛巾, 毛巾舖越厚, 越吸得勁, 以平衡音色. 呢個方法斬腳趾避沙虫, 好處係順耳/冇咁吵耳, 方便同埋免費, 唔好處係無助解決噪音及出多d細節.
2/ 駁喇叭線, 有師兄已提出. 如bi wire喇叭, 試試改變接線方式. 小弟試過同朋友搞, 原本hifi舖幫佢紅黑駁晒低音, 鐵片jumper分別連接紅黑高音. 改一下駁法, 紅色駁低音黑色駁高音, 鐵片jumper保留, 低音即刻返晒黎, 音色平衡. 呢個做法又係免費, 亦可試試係咪jumper累事.
3/ 器材防震好好處理, 特別係power amp呢d大隻牛既器材, 第二係音源. 有搞同無搞防震, 差別可以大到好似換左機, 成套野upgrade左咁, 噪音少好多, 細節返返黎. 防震需要洗d錢, 搬機搬到苦力咁, 仲要試來試去交下學費. 玩掂之後, 感覺值得!
4/ 間屋亂D, 多D雜物如地氈, 堆滿既書架, 茶几上放D雜誌. 空間太空曠, 會有反射聲問題.
5/ room treatment, 聆聽空間是否太多玻璃? 係既話靠軟物料. 冚太多搞到錄音室咁, 會吸死晒D聲, 無晒生氣, 必須要慢慢試. 有D師兄在反射位求其貼張A4紙已經搞掂, 視乎現場環境慢慢試, 未必一定要大龍鳳到搞到天花凹凹凸凸. 天花燈如果係中間位, 一盞不規則形狀吊燈往往會搞掂.
6/ 線材搭配/器材搭配/空間搭配, 呢樣野真係燒銀紙! 暫不在考慮之列.

環境鬥士, 空間大小一樣有排玩 ^^
