[#1] CD 機 / 轉盤解碼應否長開? 如題. 小弟試過長開 (24 hrs a day, 7 days a week), 係 analogue d, 但係就 "呆" D, 唔 LIVE. 到左第七日, D 聲有D 怪, 好似唔完整咁, 好似個人呢埋左唱歌咁. 如果每次聽之前先開, 聲音就清D, LIVE 好多, 層次亦好好多. 但就比較機械. Any comment????		bbrgoer 正式會員 202.xxx.xxx.193	2011-02-24 12:10

And All CDT/DAC have Electrolytic Capacitor, will dried faster in heat environment, if you planned to use for long period, don't do it, if you play for a year and sold to market, no problem la!

The philosophy on whether keeping any hifi (or electronic) equipment on 24x7:

1) Most damages to electronic equipment are caused by switch-on surges

2) some boxes required to be warmed up before they could sound their best

Back in the 70's and 80's, many manufacturers suggested to keep their low power boxes (mainly preamps) on 24x7 (some didn't even put a power switch at front).

Then again, CD players are different. Some of them do generate quite some heat at idle, or even keep the laser on when there is no CD.

I used to keep my 2-channel preamps (including a tube preamp without any power switch on the front panel) on 24x7 but I would just leave my AV processor, which is like a heater when turned on, on standby when not in use. As for CD players, it depends. If you are sure that the laser head is not kept on when there is no CD and the player doesn't generate much heat at idle, there shouldn't be any problem keeping it on 24x7. Otherwise, I would leave it at standby when not in use.

My CDT/DAC does not generate large amount of heat (it's just a bit warm). However, the sound is a bit strange after turning on for 24X7 (although more analogue and quiet, but a bit "blur").

If I turn it to "stand-by" (not main switch off), and then turn it on again, the sound becomes more fresh, lively and dynamic!!! Clear and better layering. The diff is very large!!!!

Is there any "phase problem" between CDT and DAC if allowing them to turn on all the time?? Also, is there any "noise" accumulated in them (so, they should be reset on a regular period of time)??

Any comments are highly welcommed!!!

Maybe you can try de-magnetize Disc to refresh your CDP, as you powered up, current flows no matter playing music or not, the metal parts along the signal flow maybe magnetize.

I suppose de-magnetize CD can de-magnetize analog part only.....

de-magnetize CD basically provide sine wave to fulfil the job...

But signal goes through digital part is still 101010..

Am I correct..?

Yes, Analog part only, but dull and unlively sound caused by analog path I think, as digital part working correctly, the sound will not change in such way (unless the clock is unstable with long power-on period, but unlikely, such oscillator is much more worse than the one in digital watch, should be send to dumping field)
