The file size even changed using the same dBPoweramp! Back in Pentium III ages, the sound is different when direct playback Audio CD via different CD-ROM even with cheapie Sound Blaster Live and Windows Media Player. Don't forget, different drive has different algorithm to correct C1/C2 errors. Also many technical review showing that Pioneer and Plextor drive with less jitters. If u go through the Red Book CDDA spec, u'll understand why the 1 and 0 theory doesn't work at all in CDDA. The error tolerance and recovery correction of CDDA is much weaker than computer use CD-ROM. Even small invisible dust can affect the data integrity. Obviously it was a trade off for Sony/Philips engineers when they define the format back in late 1970s in order to gain for longer playback time per disc. 最後修改時間: 2011-10-12 13:08:26 |

I use itune and eac to rip cd and both files are bit perfect. could you share your files ripped by different driver rom? Actual sound quality also has noticeable difference, but not in a "Heaven vs Hell" degree. yes, eac and itune sound quality also not same. i like eac than itune but itune can save me a lot of time in organising Hence, I'll only recommend people to invest on a better optical drive given they have high end gears and experienced ears only. well...i wont do that I have pioneer, liteon and lg which however, LG performance from forigner country testing that lg better performnace than pioneer. | [#18] 係米用藍光ROM抓CD音軌靚聲的? hi cryingfree hing, I am using dbPowerAmp & EAC for ripping, from my experience , after I setup properly for the dbPoweramp and EAC ,especially the dvd-rom or blu-ray rom offset using AccurateRIP required KEY DISC. Then your rom is properly set. and when i rip the same AudioCD with a Lite-On DVD-Rom and with a Pioneer dvd-rom, the wav files are identical! You can use the foobar2000 utility BitCompare to compare the solely the audio stream in bit level and you will know. when I rip the same NEWLY BOUGHT Time Out audioCD with 2 different PCs, the wav files are identical when both rom are calibrated (offset value properly set). When I rip a old CD (with scratch), the file size is NOT the same from dbPowerAmp and EAC and with different rom drive, it is because different software got different error correction algorithm, therefore the result is NOT the same. cheers! blau |

As I know, Pioneer and Panasonic drives doesn't report C1/C2 error to host software. That means the EC is entirely handled by the drive itself rather than the ripping software. |
