[#2] dCS They are too expensive for me but I do have tried them for head-to-head comparison against other DAC. I would put both of my thumbs up for dCS. May I learn from your experience with it using 1394 / SPDIF connection and different cables for such connection? |

[#3] dCS -> They are too expensive for me but I do have tried them for head-to-head comparison against other DAC. I mean in second-hand shops. |

[#4] dCS newkidwai, Mine dCS consist of: Verdi (2004 version) Verona Master clock Purcell (DSD) Delius (DSD) one of the reasons that i chosen dCS is the single wire IEE1394 DSD connection, once you heard the different of DSD and others up-sampler frequencies (24/192K) provided by the Purcell, you really won't switch back,dCS DSD is worth every $$$$. |

[#7] dCS http://www.goodwinshighend.com/digital.htm#dcs I can't agree more with you about DSD upsampling vs. 24 bit. DSD sounds more analogue to my ears. Have you tried using 3 x SPDIF to connect your Verdi / Purcell to Elgar? |

[#9] dCS newkidwah, I think you mean SDIF-2 (SONY DIGITAL INTERFACE ),which is 3 BNC connectors included 2 serial DSD signals and 1 clock signal, this connection is only avaliable to the Pro version of upsampler model 974,not to my Purcell DSD,heard by some users that this give a better performance than running IEE1394,who cares,i like the consumer look of the Purcell when they're stack together ^.^ |

[#10] dCS Your Verdi transport should be able to output DSD to Elgar DAC via 2 x SPDIF + 1 x clocklink beside 1394. Some hearsay on the net tells 1394 cable can affect the sound performance as well. How do you find such comment? |

[#11] dCS Mine DAC is Delius DSD wasn't Elgar, sorry for no comments for that. |

[#12] dCS In addition, the IEE1394 is suppose to design for multi purpose such as sending function signals to all other dCS component to make it easier operation." one button for the stack". |

[#14] dCS dCS gears have no feet. If some Sorbothane sheet, or vibrapod, is applied underneath the gears, or in between the stack, the improvement can be tremendous. |

[#15] dCS Kenny, Actually it does has feet, but it doesn't look like "a" feet.,each components has a long round rubber hidden in the front and rear panel, the rubber act as a feet that won't slip away from each other when been stacked, but of course,as you mentioned, separating them and tweaks them with isolation methods could made different, thats what I'm doing right now. BTW,how's your CDSA :-) |

[#16] dCS Wow you have an photographic memory. No la.. I am a proud owner of a P8i. I have vibrapod / vibracone + tungsten carbide ball underneath it. It makes an incredible improvement. |

[#18] dCS Would experienced dCS users here recommend to stack their gears on top of each other? |

[#19] dCS The photo is a vibrapod. It can be used alone, or it can combine with a vibracone (which comes with a steel ball). For a stack of dCS, may be vibrapod's are more suitable that they are used in between the gears and as footers. In addition, I have a thin layer of Sorbothane sheet on the top of the CDP. And, on top of the sheet, I have 2 bags of 500 g of Thailand rice (from Parknshop) to further dampen the vibrations. Rice is good because it does not sound dead. If you buy a piece of brick, the sound would sound dead dead. Anyway -- I do have some fun -- hope you too ! ![]() |
