| [#2] TEAC Reference 600 I am a owner of Teac reference 300. The built is superb, and the sound is very good for its price. I think reference series has been a very good one and Teac would maintain this standard for reference 600. The price is a bit high actually, and it blurs the lines between good separates and mini. |

| [#3] TEAC Reference 600 Thanks. My present situation is: I often listen J-Pop which using Yamaha CD-S2000 & creek Evo amp. But I found S2000 maybe too analysis power, expose a CD's recording & mastering easily. So is TEAC Reference series suitable for me? |

| [#4] TEAC Reference 600 Bz485 C-Hing, your Yamaha is good CD player, you can try to match it with tube amp and warm cables (such as Cardas). The TEAC is only a mini system, no match for your stuff. Just try listen to it at the shop and you'll know. |

| [#6] TEAC Reference 600 apprentice hing, today's minis are not yesterday's mini anymore. With technology inherited from many years of audio development, minis like Teac reference and JVC wood cone produce very decent sound. Certainly they're not high end - to look for high-end in minis is not fair anyway. And I think you can never judge those minis in hk. They are placed on the shelves, with both speakers placed right next to the minis and OTHER gears as well. I listened to JVC wood cone more than two years ago in JVC showroom. Bz485 may phone them to try, for minis in general and JVC in particular. you can't give a fair assessment of Teac though. Nonetheless, I agree Teac and JVC may not be enough for 'audiophile' recordings. Reference 600 or lower models - it really depends on your need. For J-pop, I understand what Bz485 means. I also suffer from this problem!! Pop recordings are very different from audiophile recordings. But if you love the songs, what can we do? I think good minis may be a 'correction' to this problem (it's strange since these more expensive models are meant to attract ordinary folks who want better sound, but guys like Bz485 want a less analytical sound; it's interesting ...) While I agree with apprentice that a tube amp may 'mask' something, it may loses the punchy feel of modern pops. | [#10] TEAC Reference 600 Thanks all ching's comments. I tested Onkyo CS-725, Pioneer PDX-Z9 & TEAC Reference 600 combo with my often listened J-POP CDs. 600 KO CS-725 and 50/50 with Pioneer PDX-Z9. Fianl picked 600 combo, credit card price $8600. Tomorrow or day after tomorrow can get stock.  |
