What is better ?

I use several of the TRI products, including the CD player, 300B and 845 amp. Products are reliable (so far) and neutral sounding, not the older warm romantic tube sound. Some C-hing on another thread commented they are made in China and sounded disrespect. I have no A/B comparison against Melody but after listen to several Meleody amp in the last few years in various occasions, I think Melody is a little bit warmer. I am sure there are other c-hing will disagree me. That's ok :-)

Design in Japan, made in China.

That is probably why it is far less expensive than other Japanese tube amp of similar ....

There were several pre-own sales on audiogon in the last few month, check it out. Cause it's less well known and not respected, no one buy and poor resale value!

Whether the Triode products were made in China or not, it is yet to be investigated.

In October, I bought a pair of mono blocks from Excel and I have traced the shipping details using the AWB labels on the carton. According to the FedEx tracking service, I have found the shipment. They were shipped out from Osaka (OSAKA-SHI SUMINOE-KU Japan) on 17Sep2013 and arrived Tsuen Wan HK on 19Sep2013.

Someone can still argue that the products were manufactured in China, shipped to Japan and then ship to worldwide countries including USA (Triode 2nd hand products can be found in Audiogon for sale).

Many Japanese AV and camera products sold in the USA have printings 'Made in China', 'Made in Thailand', 'Made in xxx' on them. The Triode amps have 'Made in Japan' printed on the back panels. If they were made in China, and printed 'Made in Japan', Triode will face legal prosecution USA. Worth to lie about it ? I doubt it.....

I am pretty sure TRI Triode are made in China now (after my original post from years ago). What qualify them from saying Made in Japan is just like many luxury goods from Europe perhaps. Parts made in Japan, assemble in China and than some further assemble done in Japan. I could be wrong but I think their cows are made in Japan. Since my first post in 2013, I am still using the 845 on a regular base driving Stephens 3/5a or Quad ESL-63 and even occasionally drive the Magnepan MG3.6, no problem whatsoever, same tubes and everything, re-baias a couple of times, dropped a little bit. Otherwise all good, so tubes still have at least another year or 2 life..
