| [#35] Quad ESL 63 troubleshooting tensioning Mylar is another ball game. Way beyond my capability. A YouTuber i saw, he would record the sonic profile of an original panel and find the best way to replicate it. But i do agree with you to use hot glue for fixing the dry glue on stators is quick and manageable. I was just doing this yesterday, it is very tedious and breaks my back having to hold things together and apply the glue, bit by bit, section by section! Fingers crossed things work out! |

| [#30] Quad ESL 63 troubleshooting haha, many pairs of ESL63 in bad state and one original ESL57 on high legs. Driven them with Quad 306, 606mk2, 100w pentode tube amps and many others but yet to try OTL amps! the ESL57 has clamp boards on...the purists would say that's no good and deteriorates the sound... i should take you to hear the Kings Audio Electrostatics. No dust covers! I've not visited Mr Lai for ages. Raise the ESL63 off the floor to get even better soundstage but may reduce some bass response. I even added supertweeters with the ESL63 at one point! My cloth-ears tells me the bass response got better, go figure! I'm listening to Apogees now. |

| [#23] Quad ESL 63 troubleshooting quality power amp./.is getting cheap... expectation is about... should not expect those electrostatic speaker...at about 95 db listening too... they really sound nicer or closer to some truth for some type of musical passage same...if people aim for "punch through your head 撲穿頭 ".... then they should goes for a big TAD horn...haahaa 整唔返都有嘢學到有趣的有趣的 目前 關鍵係如果薄膜鬆脫.. 但係又冇爛冇穿... 有幾困難去re use 這塊薄膜... 其他都應該相對容易 全部 換上新的 薄膜 拉力一致, 其實應該不困難.. But why... 左右喇叭 8 panel... 邊有咁多時間呀 haha 感受到如果坐喺兩米幾個距離聽歌聽唔係太大聲大概80db... | [#22] Quad ESL 63 troubleshooting 冇見過亦完全唔熟識 ESL 63，不過靜電喇叭最怕潮濕同dusty。Overtime，when dusts attach to the plastic foil，no more 高音。另外非常之難推：有一年係會展hifi show 見到成set 大六做Quad 擴音機同静電喇叭，根本推唔掂，拆聲到阿媽唔認得，想同佢講一係細聲啲，一係借套膽機因為膽機唔會clip，但係佢老細好開心唔敢掃興。 以前Quad ESL都有個topic係R33。都好有趣同學到嘢。祝你好運！ |

| [#21] Quad ESL 63 troubleshooting 喇叭相處了 幾天嘅時間 感受到 真係有一個難以媲美嘅強項, they play classical guitar music.. So nice... Strings movement really closer to real... Those guitar extreme speed tremolo.passage.. The presentation is quite goooooood... 速度自然流暢感.. Is really good quality It is almost not subsjective quality..it is really faster and suitable for certain type of musical passage.. Tonal wise.. For piano.. For vocal.. For other string instruments... Is subjective..esl is different but not excatly better for my ear Image and sound stage.. Etc.. Also subjective But for certain type. Of music.. It is objectively better.. Understand why some people can tolerate such 麻煩嘅 speaker From those few days...almost 100% of vintage esl demand fixing once pre. Few Yrs without exception... 幾乎肯定 one of the panel, the stator is quite separated from the frame.., wish the diaphragm is kind of tight.. Haha No time for this week to take the panel out.. For sure.. ( glue choices need to be certain) * in the case of broken mylar.., source of it..., kind of having idea which spray on coating to be used... things...need * trouble shooting the electronic....or assume it has no issue at this moment * making some simple Jig , a tensioning tactic in case a new diaphragm is needed * diaphragm resistivity seem critical..., need to learn an effective way to measure it.. seem making it no fault without those funny noise..is not that difficult making it sound intended...is another matter........ fun.... haha |
