[#24] Harbeth同好會 U are rite Mandie, Harbeth has a very traditional UK sound. Depends on taste, the design is a bit 'slow' and warm in nature. I am now using MF A3.2 pre + power and very satified. Besides Naim, Harbeth website also suggest Sudgen amp. |

[#33] Harbeth同好會 Hi Bigbird, I hate to use the word ‘win/lose’ in hifi comparison cos 'win' or 'lose' depends on taste, environment and tuning skill. Back to your question, SHL5 should sound different from your existing speaker. To my taste, SHL5 can 'win' my vote |

[#34] Harbeth同好會 this question being here in harbeth user thread surely most ppl will prefer it to the TAD. i have not heard the TAD but I vote for Harbeth still coz I am its die hard fans or at least I am british audio equiopment fans so anything not british, usually lose from my point of view. |

[#35] Harbeth同好會 btw firend, judging from your photo, the TAD suit better your style for home decoration then the harbeth if you care to notice or is of any importance to you. i personally take looks into account when choosing speakers for they act as an imoprtant focal point in our living rooms. |

[#39] Harbeth同好會 M40 hing, Oh not my home, in my friend's home last week ( I know him in R33 here and find out he is one of my previous client, what a small word). I find it is a gentle speaker but the mid range is full of body. I spend 2 hours at my friend's home listen to classical, Jazz and vocal and rock music and I spend 2 more hours at home listen to the same CD in my home. I think there is always pros and cons but SHL-5 worth the price it ask for. I think it need a good and powerful solid state amp and also a good stand is important for it. I will give it a good 8.5/10. I will consider to buy it soon. |

[#40] Harbeth同好會 Ken1967, glad to hear you like it too. I think 8.5 is high score for speaker in this price level. Agree it requires good stand and good amp, also careful tuning can help to minimize its cons. |

[#42] Harbeth同好會 bigbird, For your new born baby good sake, you need SHL5 even more. A good speaker can calm baby down and stimulate their intuition and learning. Just like music, will you let your baby hear rubbish pop music or Mozart? |
