[#64] Harbeth同好會 M40, Harbeth> I'm thinking of buying a pair of C7 in Mong Kok. I know there are two places in Yau Shing Building that sell these speakers. How much are they currently going for? Which shop is the better place to buy from? Many thanks |

[#65] Harbeth同好會 I think both shops are the same. Those sales could sometimes be seen at different floors. |

[#68] New C7-ES3 Harbeth & others> Thanks. I just went for an audition of C7 on saturday afteroon at Century. I was surprised to learn that they were demoing the latest version (Compact 7-ES3) which just arrived at their shop a couple of days ago. After listening for an hour, I told the salesman that I'm going to order one as soon as I can get a pair of stands to support them. The price for the new C7-ES3 is about $18,000-$19,000. The recommended height for the speaker stands as quoted in Harbeth's website is 18-21". The one used by Century for the demo was Foundation which is 24" tall and not the most ideal height as you may. So in the meantime, I'm looking for a pair of speaker stands. Any ideas from any brothers will be appreciated. |

[#70] New C7-ES3 Hi peter go to www.skylanstands.com according to Herbath website and send email to Neol (the boss) he will advise you which mould and he will tell you the deliver time and cost. By ship is much cheaper but wait for 2 months. I tested C7-es2 in Sept. and the sales told me new mould coming which the bass have been improved. He quoted me the price is about 14K But .... 19K now!!! If you haven't order, maybe try to bargain if buy 2 sets how much? If they can back to 15K let me know. Actually I going to but it at DEC. IF they can offer discount , maybe I will buy it now! |

[#71] New C7-ES3 Thanks. I've found someone local to tailor make the metal stands for me for $1,600. As for the price of the C7-ES3, I've managed to get the sales to knock off the price for me. I really wished they were HK$16,500, which was the price they charged last year. The stands and speakers will be delivered to my place this saturday. God, I can't wait.... Cheers Peter |

[#74] Harbeth同好會 Hi everyone, I am so gald to see this forum set up! I am considering of buying a Harbeth P3 by year end. The reason why I got poisoned? It was almost 6 years ago when I walked into a small HiFi shop playing a P3 Ebony version. It was just awesome! The side wall disappeared, the sounstage was deep, and of course the vocal and strongs were very very sweet... I am thinking of matching it with a McIntosh integrated...any opinions? And, I would be very very appreciative if anyone can let me know where I can find second hand P3 ebony...I called the dealer (who is vrey nice and patient) and he said he seldom import ebony version due to limited orders....too bad... A friend of mine can sell his Foundation stand to me, any comments if it matches with P3? Many thanks and look forward to learning from your experiences!! ^^ Peter |

[#75] Harbeth同好會 Peterlau, I think Ebony version is rare in HK, however, there is not much sonic difference between ebony version and the more popular cherry version, which is easy to find here from around 3.5K (for P3) to 5.5K (for P3-ES2). If u are LS3 fans, P3 has very close sound attributes to it, however, P3-ES2 has a more dynamic range which can allow u to listen pop music sometimes. |

[#76] Harbeth同好會 Thanks Harbeth, I went to MK Yau Shing today and auditioned the P3 Cherry version + McInstosh 6300, sounded pretty decent and is the type I liked. However, the 3D soundstage semed less impressive than the P3 ebony version I last hear, but of course, there is no scientific comparison here... now I am thinking to get a used P3, as I really can't spend months running in the speaker : ) |

[#77] Harbeth同好會 Hey, I auditioned the first version P3 today, and it sounded even more impressive than the ES-2 (maybe to my taste as I care much for vocal and not care too mych for a flat response), but the 2nd hand shop is asking for $4,900....sounds a bit ovrepriced for a potentially 10 years+ speaker with original price at $7xxx.... |

[#78] Harbeth同好會 HK$4900 sounds a bit expensive. I saw 3 P3 here selling here before with asking from 3.5k to 4.5K. Be patient and u can find a good one! |

[#80] Harbeth Compact 7ES-3 Harbeth & all> Well, my stands finaly arrived around 9.00pm on saturday night. The Compact 7ES-3 had actually been delivered on Friday night but I didn't open the boxes until the stands were here. And the good things with buying new gears are the satisfaction you get when you first unpack them. Here, the Harbeth certainly doesn't disappoint. Their boxes were sealed with an " Security Sealed by Harbeth" sellotape. There were words "Hand made in England", "QC checked by..." as well as the British flag labelled on the cartons. So from the moment you open the box, you know you're buying a piece of high quality British speakers. As the reviewer quotes" when you buy a pair of Harbeths, you're also buying a piece of history"... After setting up the stands and knowing that my kids were in already in bed, I knew I could only listen to these speakers at low volume. As soon as I turned the volume knob just past seven-ish position, I could already hear tons of details coming from the Harbeth. Boy! did they sound so pleasing to my ears when you listen to violin on them. And of course, this is one of the areas where British speakers excel. The following morning, I had them played non-stop from 8:30am to 9:30pm in order to get them going. And to my ears, they do sound better and better every hour. The only quibble I had with them if I had to find one was the thickness of the sound. The tonal balance was spot-on but still not as thick I had wanted it to be. I think this might be due to the Roksan Capspian monoblock that I drove them with. But overall, the Harbeths do sound a big improvement over the 1sc that I had before. These are the speakers that you could listen for hours without any fatigue. They are designed for people who enjoy listening to music rather than listening to hifi artifacts. I think these Harbeth will be the speakers that I'll hang for life. As to the thick warm midrange sound that I'm dying for, I think I'm going to get a vintage tube power amplifier such as Mcintosh MC240 or MC275 to feed these babies. What do you guys think?? Peter |
