| [#1] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! 小弟初涉音響之道才兩個月, 用的都不是名器, 但有些話不吐不快, 借此園地發表一下不才之小小心得, 若有錯漏, 請見諒, 並撥冗指正. Here is the cost to performance ratio of component in my opinion: Amp 10 Speaker 20 Speaker stand 4 CD trans 5 Dac 2 Speaker cable 1 Power cable 0.7 Interconnect 0.4 Speaker and amplifier are the most important. They define 音色. That is what hi-fi is about. To make records sound real. They also accounts majorly for resolution, soundfield, 定位 etc. The other components (CD player ,cables etc) only refines it a little bit. They do not change the nature. I suggest newcomer first buy speakers first. But the best you can. Choose upon 音色. May be you pay a lot to buy the speakers and don't have much for amp, that's fine. Buy a Chinese tube amp then. I am using a speaker which suggests 50W-300W. My amp only 80W. But be careful not to turn to full volume. 力水我估唔太夠 But in my opinion, I would rather satisfy 力水 for magnificient 音色. Afterall, it is music we are listening to, not 音響效果. Spend on speaker and amp. Spend as little as possible on the other components. Listening area setup is important. Many people talk about sound stage/depth but really have no idea what it is. Before spending another 20k on components, try this, Back of speaker to wall: at least 4 ft Side of speaker to wall: at least 1 ft In between speaker to wall, no objects. I have done an experient that starting from 0 ft of back distance. Then I move the speaker away from wall, one ft at a time. The result was really shocking that the 立體感 of vocal was so different. Remember, there mustn't be any objects (television, amp, CD players) in between the speakers from wall to 4th feet. You can spread the components on the floor, don't stack them up. A cheaper bookshelf speaker in a better set-up is better than an expensive floor speaker in a poor set-up. Finally, I would really want to recommend everyone to buy ringmat domes and STATMAT CDi BLUE. | [#4] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! QQ, In two months time you got know so many factors, your future must be very successful. I totally agree that speakers is the most important to consider. I think I weight speaker 50% Amp 30% CD 10% (if not LP) Others 10% This do not count the listening room, which is at least 40-50%, or even more. If you don't believe, take the speaker to victoria park and listen again. Of course, each component's seller won't agree and they convince you that what they are selling at least 80-90% important. |

| [#5] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! speaker is the most important part of a Hi-Fi system. WHY, because most Distortion comes from the Speaker, believe or not. The distortion ratio of a speaker system is much higher than other components of a Hi-Fi system. Another factor is speakers are mostly not much improved in the design as it was originally invented. More or less the same structure with only the magnetic system changed from electro-magnetic field to permanent magnetic system. So mostly misunderstood by new-comers, instead, we should pay 60%--70% of our budget to the speaker system if you want to have nice music. |

Speaker sound like human beings, all with their own character, JBL, Altec, Tannoy, Lowther, LS3/5a, Quad ESL, Martin logan, Maneplaner..etc..etc each one is unigue character and none of these similar. An amp just makes it sing like itself. A wrong decision is painful, make sure got your cup of tea and remember none of these can give you the whole world. |

| [#8] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! THis is a never ending argument on which part is most important. Otherwise, there will not be people buying very expensive parts other than Speaker or CD player. TO me, every part of my system is equally important. One factor a lot of people overlook is electricity isolation and optimal (not overly) filtering. |

| [#11] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! diytfy 兄, your comment on speaker and amp 真係一針見血, 勢利! 我真係唔明白, 為什麼有人會使那麼多錢在 CDP, DAC, cables上. 而不使在speaker 上呢? STATMAT CDi BLUE gives you at least $5000 of up grade value on a amplifier. That equals $100,000 on CDP or Dac. That also equals $2500 on speaker. 當然缺一不可, 但有部CDP就夠啦, 駛唔駛同部amp一樣貴呢? DAC 就更無謂. In fact, my listening area is not ideal. Daytime, I have to hide the speaker and stand. When I listen to music, I have to first set them up. I notice for bookshelf speakers, the in-between speakers distance should be at least 4 or 5 feet to sound good. However, in my case, I only have 3.5 ft. Because my right speaker only have 1 feet from side wall. Even moving one inch of the speaker sideway gives you very different result. They are that sensitive. Since I mainly hear female vocal, I would rather sacrifice the side distance and make sure the in-between distance is appropriate. Listening area is as important as the speaker. |

| [#13] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! cdp, amp, spk. 要平衡發展，互相配合，不可只注重一邊，spk易唔易推，amp夠唔夠力，cdp個性取向，各器材的音色配合，最後線材的配合也很重要，當然如果加DAC就有更好的效果 好的spk都要有好的amp去發揮其所長，有好的amp & spk又要有好的音源cdp，hifi呢樣野就係咁麻煩 |

| [#14] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! A TAS writer once said speaker defines over 80% or even more of overall sound. So if a speaker is tonally correct, you can easily get reasonable good sound, even assoicates with cheap electronics. On the other hand, if a speaker is tonally wrong (quite a lot in the market , e.g. boost up bass can easily win in AB test), it is almost impossible to get reasonable good sound, no matter how much money you want to spend on upfront electronics. |

| [#18] 買音響先買揚聲器!!! I think the most important is that you have a lot of money to buy the most expensive and highest grade HiFi equipment immediately at the first time you are intrested in HiFi. Then you don't need waste time to try the cheap stuffs and feel unsatisfied, then move up to real HiFi gradually and slowly. |
