| [#9] Saturday 23/4 yumcha Ah Lun picked up the Zanden last night and I felt sorry to see it packed away. My 47 Lab Dac should be on its way back. Since I don't have a working Dac, I am now using the Toshiba SD9500 DVD player for the time being. To my surprise, the DVD player sounds very good. Veru silky highs and respectable sound stage. Who wants to audition this later on? :-) Just joking! For those who want to listen to the LP setup, I have a few seats. Anyone? |

| [#11] Saturday 23/4 yumcha I shall let Secretary General to report on the Yumcha activity. Lincoln, Edmund and me go to Master Kwong's den. Very bad electricity this afternoon. We were all disappointed as Edmund has brought a pair of Transparent Interconnect cable cost HKD180,000 for A/B comparison. After a few rounds of turn on/off the Cello amps we decided to go ahead with the test. CDs we used to test are: 1. a Mongolian song CD literal translation as "sky boundary". The song is sung by a man, a woman and a child. Lincoln could you pls help to find the exact name of this CD and report 2. Meditation played by Milstein Result is very surprising. The 180,000 cable wins in every aspect. I can only say with Master Kwong's 120,000 cable the child in CD1 sounds very robotic to my ear. And there is not enough punch. And the mother and child stand too near each other... And.. With the 120,000 cable the violin is almost out of control. 180,000 cable and you know why Milstein's LP cost so much at ebaystore.. Master Kwong, face the truth and make a good choice. You do not need that much cash in your pocket, why not spend it on good things that give good sound? Edmund took leave with his cable and Lincoln went home. DoctorJohn, whlee, kris joined us at around 5:00pm. Played a few more CDs and LPs. They went away at 6:30pm. From 6:30pm to 7:45pm Master Kwong and I concentrate on different setting of his room tweaks and amp settings. With amp setting Master Kwong found that his original preference works best. He slapped the loudspeaker with his hand and there we have a better soundstage. I call this magic. |
