| [#15] 屏風喇叭同好會 I am also using the Apogee Duetta Signature, but both the bass and mid/treble ribbons have been replaced by new units from Graz in Australia. The mid/treble ribbon has been replaced by the foil only (no kapton backing) type, like the Magneplanar treble ribbon. This change has lowered the weight of the ribbon considerable and makes it sound much faster. I am using active crossover with Sonic Frontier Power 2 for the midrange/treble, and Power 3 for the bass. I agree with brothers that it is hard to change back to cone speakers once you have play with panels. |

| [#18] 屏風喇叭同好會 Yes, if space is enough, the bigger the panel, the greatest on the performance. An alternative choice of other brands speaker stand for Maggie is Sound Anchour. They do custom build stands for all Maggie's model. I am a Maggie 1.6QL user in Causeway Bay. ^_^ |

| [#20] 屏風喇叭同好會 I am using Eminent Technology LFT8 Using a tube OCL amp to drive the treble /midrange panel, and NAD 3020 for the bass. The listening space is about 7ft wide(!) times 15ft, in backroom of my office. Riculous space, low end gears, can't play loud too. But sound is sweet and transparent, and sound stage is wide. |

More important is whether you like the bass impact, or lack of, of a panel speaker ? Maggie speakers sound very thin without the aid of a subwoofer, much much weaker than a typical Apogee, but its midrange and treble are far better. |

I have owned Dayton Wright, Double Quad, Quad 57, Quad 63, Accustate before. All of them (except the Quad ESL57) need bigger room in order to get the best performance out of them. The Quad ESL57 sound beautiful in a small room. I have also listened to my friend's Martin Logan, Apogee and Maggies. None of them is my cup of tea. Tonal quality is far cry from Quad ESL57. Of course, it's all depending on your music preference. If you like dynamic effect and like to play very loud, then ESL57 will not fit you. However, if you like human voice, violin, jazz, chember music etc. you will feel like you have found heaven on earth. |
