[#26] Lenco Club de HONG KONG So glad to see many of lenco enthusiasts here they paid efford to "build-up" and opitmize theie lencos. May i know the reasons of you guys picked lenco as your turntable but not seeked for a belt-driven nor direct-driven stuffs? The reason of myself it was simply - cheap. As well as enjoying the process of improving her in part by part. No regret to got one and i would spending a couple of hours everynight to listen my lenco,s singing. Im fading out my life with digital because of her...Honestly, I just started to touch vinlyn nit exceeding three months. |

[#27] Lenco Club de HONG KONG Cost could be one of the reasons for sure. If I get it right that you seem to start your vinyl journey recently. In which case welcome to the vinyl world. There will be joy and lots of pain. To me vinyl never leaves me. With other medium comes and goes vinyl has always been my number one choice. I am sure many here have at different times used most of the various drives of turntables. You could argue that it depends on very much the trend of the Hi-Fi psychology and marketing(technology and fashion). I still own belt drive, direct drive and idle drive and use them alternatively. They represent different mind sets and need different approach. I can assure you that they all deserve their merits and weakness, one way or another. There is no prefect turntable. As for Lenco, it's cheap to buy and plenty here in the UK. It's well established in the secondhand market as well as among some died hard fans. Most of all there is a dedicated web site(lencoheaven.net) with wealth of information, ideas and advices from members around the world. If you are not just contented with a box standard turntable, Lenco will free your mind. The Lenco is arguably a very basic design with reliable and well engineered parts which are easily obtainable. Moreover, if you fancy something different just DIY yourself and sky the limit. This allows users to modify in any which ways they like. Nonetheless, the foundation is still very much the solid motor, spindle and the platter. Do go make your Lenco different from the person next to you, if you dare. It's the on-going progress of a Lenco, not the result, that pleases its owner most. Here are some examples of a Lenco from different Lenco uers. [#31] Lenco Club de HONG KONG Well done! So far, I have touched many Lenco parts, except the motor! I still need to understand the whole process more in-depth before I dare to maintain it. |

[#32] Lenco Club de HONG KONG Simply i bought a bearing set (the left) from ebay it cost 2k something at HKD. It runs with double ceremic balls for assisting spining and the performace is far better from stock. The manufacturer if this bearing set they told that only 5 sets left and they would not do anymore. See anyone should interested with it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenco-75-78-in-lubricant-working-turntable-bearing-and-spindle-/322152603777 |

[#33] Lenco Club de HONG KONG I also bought this “super bearing” a few years ago, but never got round to my Lenco project for one reason or another. A few weeks ago I got a surprised message that the custom Speed Control I ordered through Lenco Heaven high hands 4 or 5 years ago is finally ready, I had totally forgotten about that. Now what remains is a slate plinth before I can built a dream idler wheel turntable, can’t wait for that!! |

[#36] Lenco Club de HONG KONG Now regret selling my Thomas Schick 12” tonearm several years ago, it would match well with the Lenco. |

[#37] Lenco Club de HONG KONG in the meantime, can have a look of this slate plinth from a UK seller. it's not box type but skeletal structure to reduce vibration. it can be ordered with cover & IEC socket. they have one for Garrard 301/401. if interested, can ask them whether they can build one for your turntable. https://www.peakhifi.co.uk/cgi-bin/ecom.cgi?Command=ShowProduct&db_pid=576 |

[#38] Lenco Club de HONG KONG Thanks for the tip, SMD plinths look very professionally made. Although I personally prefer a non-skeletal design it’s still worth considering, to spare all the hassle & disappointment of a DIY effort. Think they offer bespoke service for other turntable motor units, will contact SMD for a quote. |
