OMG!

You really do go more miles than me!!! I do have plenty of spare Lenco L75/78 armtubes around so never thought of "breaking" it!!!

My hats off to you!!

I do have another L75 project which I have been too lazy to deal with.

Where do I begin?

But how to rewire them without breaking it...
I really try. But... Haha

And it was quite nasty too

I did notice there may be a few people can took the insert out without braking it... But I had no choice... Hahahha

And how to take the tail off and fasten it.. Or it is the way it is.. For resonate control?

Fun... I feel quite ' satisfy'

Haha... If I do not have a working condition L75, I would not do it

Since u have a few tube...try haha haha, assume with your knife... I CA. Always make a wood insert , may ending up with some magic tone too

Taobao shopping for arm wiring... Haha later

Haha

I should have posted this link much earlier!!!

To remove the connector drill a small hole 180 degrees to the pin ,very carefully mark and indent prior to drilling.Be careful not to damage pins in the plastic connector by being very precise with the drilling. The idea is to make contact with the pin from the other side. You can then use a finishing nail and heat from a heat gun to help push the pin out and not damage the plastic connector..The pin is a little over a mm in diameter and is no more than 4mm long, cylindrical. The plastic connector can be loosened first after heating by rotating using the headshell .Also the original pin hole and the new hole can be used to help push the plastic connector out.

The beauty of this is that it is now much easier to do if ever required again.

L70? Good choice but much rarer than the GL75, even far away here in the UK?

Do you prefer the L70 due to the arm or the Avant-garde look and design like Braun of Dieter Rams?

I am not sure if Lenco has any plastic headshell for its classic idel wheel wheel turntable.

There may be some for the later rebadged cheap ones but I don't think they fit the old models.

There is one after-market lightweight one which weights 6 grams if you are interested.

it is the one

lets me check/measure the effective mass of the arm too.......later......., may eb the effective arm without the headshell is quite light...

Let's see those comparison....

The lenco headshell is around 15. 4grams plus the arm... So it is about 19 gram total

Vs that common Japanese UA 5045(track quite well...) low end arm.. Tube at 9.83, with a shell at about 9.5 grams...so 19.3...

Interesting... Lenco. Must had their belief beyond

So it still make sense for a lighter weight headshell for lenco for some MC at about 10 gram vs a MM at 6 grams..

My lenco day.. Haha quite happy

Some little touches.. Fitting that taobao arm lifter onto the lenco.. Work great... Haha

See the arm lifter in action.. Highly recommend

Also sort of proper tone arm setting... Simple and great tonearm... Track very well...super Stable.... Too.. A simple test....

Start to have some feeling about a plinth for it

hi lenco fellow

i need some sharing about some sonic related outcome from your plinth for L75...

at this moment....i tend to have a 4 layer structure

top layer is Maple - if it sound too bright... then ebony
middle layer is Mahogany
bottom layer is Corian related
all of the above resting on some sort of isolation feets..

should get those wood from some tone wood store who sell wood for making guitar, violin ..cello..etc. ..( not expensive at all )

and all layers rest of top on each other without using glue ,with tightening screws just dialing in carefully

why Maple top and Mahogany --- this is the classic and proven recipe of a gilson guitar
why bolted on structure -- this is a classic recipe of a fender Guitar joint

i believe there are a lot of similarity of the turntable plinth and an electric guitar ...very similar device involving micro vibration across the audio bandwidth on a physical structure... and material chosen and the way to build translating to different tonal signature... --- glue always take a way some high frequency..., unless there is an application who look for particular texture of "MID" -- this is why...people love particular build of Gibson etc..

vibration from finger board to pickup mounted on a spring coupling pickups with coils.............

worth to mention... for the same part of those wood..., bolted on neck vs glue...joint... sound completely different...haha ..non trained ear... and new guitar player hear those different..and feel the different from finger too...haahaa

hope to hear some sharing

to float..., not to float...how to float... rigid..or semi rigid.......... etc... not sure yet..

if float..the relationship of the added arm board to top plate..etc..

thick mat and added layer of tone wood under the arm on top on the plate..etc..

cheers

haha
