Lean, fast, attacking sound

Link it to your AV receiver via HDMI and, of course, the sounds you’ll enjoy depend greatly on the relative quality and tonality of the receiver in question. All the same, the Pioneer’s presentation still carries over some of that leanness and fast, attacking character. That’s not a criticism – more an interesting observation…

What of weaknesses? Well, there are a couple. Compared with the class-leading Panasonic DMP-BDT500 and Sony BDP-S790, the Pioneer has a less substantial sound.

Oppo 103/105 sounds the same if you use HDMI out.
But 105 has a lot better RCA out.

If you take advantage of dual HDMI on your 9700, 105 may not be that much better.

Older amp need to use RCA in, cause they can't decode HD sound track.

For newer amp, you may want to take advantage of DSP processing in digital domain. So don't do any decoding in player. High end amps have very nice A/D chips.

我現在無玩 AV, 以前成日唔明 player 點解要解碼。

我試過用新 player 夾舊 amp, 覺得 bluray player 解碼應該好過 amp, 所以用七條 rca 駁 av amp

Movie sound track should use bit stream out and let av receiver do the decoding.
Much better this way.

If you decode using bluray player, then you only have PCM (max 48 hz only) out and won't be able to enjoy HD sound track which can be as high as 24/96 or even 24/192

#12 Ching, need to do your own setup on the player.

Maybe not In a single-HDMI-port environment, both video and audio share the bandwidth. Video gets priority. There are certain situations where the type/resolution of the video can reduce the number of audio channels and/or sample rate/bit depth that can be output. In theory, if you have two HDMI ports and dedicate one to video and one to audio, you don't have this problem.

2）盡量用兩條HDMI, 如有雙出，影/音分開行
3) movie sounds better if you use two HDMI

I use pioneer 09 and Sony 9150es hdmi.Much better than my other pioneer 23.

Must use top hdmi cable to hear the difference.
