| [#261] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier Actually, the sound characteristic of Fisher 80-C is very different than Fisher 400CX/400CX-2…! Fisher 80-C introduced to the market in 1955, it is the second generation’s self-power mono preamp by Fisher. This preamp has very outstanding richness of mid range and thickness of bass, very natural and emotional on blue and sadness tone. Fisher 400CX is the second generation of stereo preamp from Fisher introduced in 1960 and Fisher 400CX-2 is replacement model introduced in 1961. Actually, the sound characteristic of 400CX/400CX2 is very similar, it has very focus, detail, sweet high and mid high, it as better ability to present happiness tone. The Fisher 400CX/400CX-2 has fine details and extension of high if compared to Fisher 80-C, but 80-C has better body of mid and natural tone than Fisher 400CX/400CX-2. Honestly, it is very depends on your personal taste toward sound and music, but one thing I’m sure Fisher 80-C required much advance skill on preamp control than Fisher 400CX/400CX-2, so Fisher 400CX-2/400CX is much more user friendly in my understanding.Fisher 400C has thicker body and solid bass. Honestly, it is not much thicker, powerful and solid sound than Fisher 400CX/400CX-2. Personally, I would much prefer 400CX/400CX-2 rather than Fisher 400C even it is slightly cheaper on the market. |

| [#264] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier Usually, the US dealer price of Fisher 80-C is started from USD200.00 - USD400,00 per piece spending on the condition. Wow! Surprise to see that the price on Ebay even higher than the dealer price in US closing at USD830 per pair but sold "as is" no matter live or dead...! FYI, "Sing Fai" (local dealer) is selling 80-C at HKD8,000.00 only. I would suggest you buy to them in local dealer rather than on ebay! At least you can test the preamp and guarantee it is in working condition before you walk out from the door. Just my 2 cents! |

| [#271] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier Dear 老友 Fisher 50-C has better extension of high, relax, smooth and softer tone with rich of harmonic extension but slightly laid back in tone, Fisher 80-C has better richness of body, forward and outstanding mid and mid-low range, better bass control, listener can feel much closer to the musician. Both preamp is very natural and realistic in tone, but two different feeling on emotional expression and sound characteristic. Fisher 80-C has better ability to present sadness tone and Fisher 50-C has better ability to present pleasure tone. |

Are you planning to kill your 80-T to save your 80-C? Actually, Fisher 80-T is a very good tuner/preamp.
