| [#29] ls3/5 分音器線路圖 話雖 彈下 3/5 仔的分音 但3/5仔可做出的離箱感，定位準確度，確是一絕。我玩過~20款喇叭，還未有一對比得上3/5仔 可能是拜謝佢密封式的設計 ---------------------------------- Summilux 兄, 除了 LS3/5A 的單元, 分音等設外, 另一原是它 "細" - 較接近 "point source" 嗎! :) |

| [#28] ls3/5 分音器線路圖 #11 班門弄斧, 只是傳聞, 有錯請糾正 I heard a slightly different story. BBC offered Rogers the LS3/5 licence in Feb 1974. Rogers produced the first and last batch of 20 units of LS3/5 in 1974 with newer KEF driver units. BBC needed a batch of LS3/5 for in-house use and therefore got the whole (or part) of the first batch from Rogers. Unfortunately BBC found the performance of Rogers LS3/5 was impaired by not using the original KEF driver units. Due to the fact that original KEF driver units were not available anymore, Rogers had to halt production for 1 year until BBC redesigned LS3/5 to fit the new KEF drivers – LS3/5a in 1975. Design of LS3/5 is good, however, all of the 20 units of Rogers LS3/5 might need to be avoided. |

Since then, upon defeated by transistors, production of tubes around the world had basically come to a halt. Remaining productions were limited to small scale, by old machine and probable unskilled/inexperienced workers. No further meaningful new investment could be expected in the maintenance of the machinery, testing of new materials or invention of new technology. So, we can comfortably believe quality of the tubes produced in the golden ages should be the best in the tube history. Loudspeaker is a completely different story. The B110/T27A (or whatever) were produced some 50 (or 60 years?) ago, at which time, the concept of hifi was just only budding . Since then, speaker design and production technology in every aspect, have advanced for thousands of miles, and are still advancing. In respect of the cessation of the 3/5A driver units by KEF, I had actually also raised the same question on a popular foreign loudspeaker forum very many years ago. It was only interested to reduce production cost and its own speakers were already designed for the later KEF driver model. It was for the same reason why earlier tubes of the same model from the same manufacturer always sound better than later production. |

And Rogers was first invited to make the LS3/5 and not LS3/5A. When KEF stopped production of B110/A6362, Rogers got stuck and has to ask BBC to modify the spec to use B110/SP1003 instead, which became LS3/5A. |
