[#1] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? I am looking for a regulated DC12V power supply for my turntable. The amperage is very small. I currently run it from my Keces and it registers 0.0A when running. It is how minimum current the motor is drawing. I tried to attached a 12V UPC battery from Taobao. The background is quieter but there is no life in the music. But this shows me how dependent the sound of my turntable is on the power source. Keces is not bad. But I wonder if there can be more improvement if I switch to another LPS (or any good battery based DC 12V). I am looking at Farad and MCRU. Any brother has experience on using them with turntable and if they do make improvement? Thanks. |

[#2] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? Long long time ago... I used a panasonic car battery.. Suggest u order a specific LPS.. Lets say.. Based on Some proven circuit.... Specify it at 0.5A.. Worth a try..there are a few taobao maker Or build an array of 18650 or 14 sizes... Based on some better battery cell from sony/panasonic (last so much longer..) make sure u consider low discharge type of battery etc Have fun... I remember.. It was better by the car battery. those 2 LPS u mentioned. Seem over qauality for that purpose.. Haha.. However may be so nice.. Worth to check.. Of some of the linn power supply. Board having 12v dc? Wonder how the improvement from usijg the keces? No harm for having a LPS with 1A juice too.... Haha I tend to beleive it may draw a 0.XA for some musical passage.. Haha Haha 最後修改時間: 2022-01-26 10:21:11 |

[#3] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? 台灣LPS通常好掂。我以前用PS Audio Power Plant 餵我台唱盤架生,我都覺得好掂。 不過我承認如果1A電流都冇,未必聽到分別。 |

[#4] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? I did order a 40000 mAH UPS from Taobao. Obviously the regulation is not robust enough which probably contributed to lifelessness of my S9III. With the Keces P8 the dynamics and micro details came back and in general not a bad sound. Just itchy to know if it can be improved better, quieter background with the dynamics maintained. I do have some reservation to get custom made things from Taobao. Any recommended sellers? BTW, the SYD S9III sounds very good. I am using a Benz LP cartridge. Very musical. Good reverberation with strings and goes deep with cello (Wasserman's Duets) and sounds big with orchestra (Round-up). Simon's unipivot design is very good; dynamic and imaging is well preserved. For what it is worth this latest iteration of S9 is exceptional. |

[#5] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? Why u think ups have dynamic current delivery? They are never build for speed buT capacity Beside that may get more out from your time, and stay with the kereces... From trying different belt.. Haha That arm is quite nice.. He got something right about vertical weight distribution The motor may be a 4poles one.. It draw current from demand may be triple amount.. Nano lever of belt slippage.. And ultra high speed current delivery make big different. And not something visual and easy to measure.. Do more right thing . Then better sound may then be the outcome Low discharge battery cell last longer.. And may be sufficient Ultrahigh discharge battery cell may have the speed reach to the level of audible differences too, but need more cell for capacity.. Etc.. Time is all about... Haha 最後修改時間: 2022-01-26 13:52:43 |

[#6] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? The UPS was definitely a miss. But curiosity took hold. No harm done. Except I am a couple hundred poorer. The arm has incorporated a lot of clever but simple concepts which I concur. The head is free to move along x and y axis but rotational movement is locked. The integrated counter weight is off axis below the arm tube for increased bass and dynamics. No extra joints or parts to minimize resonance. Simon in fact suggests not to install the finger lift. Of course it is easier said than done. I think i can still squeeze more from this set up; power supply, belt, the platform where the table sits, etc. One step at a time. Am enjoying the music coming out of it for now. Thanks for the suggestions. Btw,where can i get good belts? |

[#7] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? I finally received the MCRU LPS yesterday for my Simon Yorke S9III. I was using the 12V output from a Keces P8. Replacing it with the MCRU the background is much much quieter and darker and imaging is more palpable. This gives an even more convincing 3D sound stage. The power supply is so important for this turntable. Really enjoying this simple design and I think Simon has made it very right this time; musical with good extension on both ends. |

[#9] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? The blue led light on the left of the lower shelf is the MCRU LPS; just a box. |

[#11] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? Must be some changes in this MkIII iteration. To begin with, the base is a aluminum board instead of granite. This gives more lustre. It is a very simple and minimalistic design. I am thinking of getting a stand alone tonearm pod to add a second tonearm. There is enough real estate on the aluminum board to do this if I rearrange the placement. |

[#13] DC12V for Turntable - Farad, MCRU, battery? I rather not. Having a stand alone armpod more flexible. |
