I just got one and it has run for like 50 hours.

Before I bought it, there are lots of -ve comments on the net, esp in those head-fi forum (including local and overseas). Just somehow I am tempted by its appearance so finally I went to try at the B&W showroom. Finally I got one.

In my very personal opinion, it is not as bad as what the forums said. The first impression is the sound is very thick. Certain amt of bass but not very punchy. The mid is coloured and a bit blur. The highs are not impressive. It "seems" to disappear in this very thick sound.

After some run-in, it sounds clearer but of coz not crystal clear. I think it won't be that kind of headphone. Bass is tighter but still a bit flat and not bodied. I will see what it will become after 100 hours.

The making is superb. Personally I love its vintage look and the lamb skin is really comfortable to wear. The sound isolation is very good, better than my ED8. The protection bag is a very nice one as well. However the cable really sucks. I think it affects its sound a lot and I am planning to change the cable from Stefan Art Audio. See what it will become.

As it is a coloured headphone, please try at the showroom and see if you like it. I think it is good for pop/rock, maybe some vocals as well. As the highs are not very extended, classic may not be where its strength is.

I am planning to buy it for outdoor usage because of its size and it should be easy to dirve too.

I usually listen to pop and jazz. If it performs well for the vocals, I probably good for it.

Seikipentsu hing write a very fair comments about P5.

It is a colored headphone, special 味精 on vocal. Very enjoyable for vocal and jazz.

The bass is not 3D enough.

Since it is very well built and excellent in sound isolation.

With my iPhone, I like the sound of P5 more than my 535.

Also own ER-4P.

I use AKG-1000 as my reference headphone.

Thanks. This is a very good headphone and I love it more with days. I am trying to run it with classics and see if the highs will come out.

I have also ordered a cable from stefan art audio. It is relatively expensive as it almost costs the price of the headphone. I hope it's gonna make a difference.

What do you use as source and to drive your akg? This is one of the legend and I hope i will have a chance to listen to it.

The headphone is easily accessible in the showroom. Really do try if you like the coloured mids. I am happy when listening it with Diana Krall's songs. The new Wu Lam album works quite well too. Band sound is a bit messy comparing with songs with simple background. But if you are having pop and jazz, think p5 can handle them quite well.

I use my Weiss DAC202 to drive my AKG K1000. Very good indeed.

You can talk to the owner/designer. He is a very professional guy who can give you lots of useful comments and information. He is the former designer working in Senn. And he is a very nice guy to talk with. I have been exchanging emails with him before placing the order.

DAC202 is the beast I can't imagine. I heard that the built-in headphone amp is very good one. Actually I am using Weiss Minerva at the moment be decided to sell it. I found it too 斯文 for me. I am a rock guy with lots of band music. It is a very beautiful DAC which, in my personal opinion, fits in classic and jazz. For pop/rock, there is something out there which fits more.

If you are a hard rocker, then you should try DAC202. I am now using it with my RS1 and I love the taste it produce. I am lover of Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, GNR, Pantera, Nitro, Eagles, Beyond, etc... I am now waiting for my new LCD-2 arrive and work with 202, it should be exciting...

Actually I am into all music. It is just a matter of portion. RS1 is another legend with good mids. I actually have MPRO with me as it adapts to more types of music. Anyway DAC202 is too expensive for me and it would still be something that I long but can't get in years.

LCD-2 shares a very good review as well. Problems are expensive, both cables and headphone itself, and also it's heavy. Please share some comments when it arrives. Think it would be very good with your DAC202.

As a recent owner of P5, I am happy with my purchase, and with the recent HK weather it sure feels great when wear it on the street... :)

Regarding your cable upgrade on the P5, may I know how it turns out? As spending double amount on just the cable itself is a lot of investment for this can so I would like to know your opinion on it. Thanks!

Well the cable is another problem. I accidenitally damaged the cable so it's not with me now but being repaired by supplier...

i also a owner of P5, i don't like the cheap cable, too plastic.

The sound of P5 is not " Hifi " enough, but perfect to me !

Most of time, i enjoy classical or recording of RTHK4/5,

P5 give me excellent tone.
