[#1] Audeze LCD3 Users - Discussion I am fairly new to serious headphone (home use type). Wonder if any LCD3 user can share your experience on balanced and unbalanced headphone amp. I have tried both balanced and SE cables with my Oppo HA-1 and found that soundstage was better with balanced cable. However there was still minor background noise with HA-1 and balanced cable would have higher noise. In fact, SE cable can also be good with a good headphone amp. For example, I found that using a SE cable on Phonitor mini (feed in from HA-1) was better than using balanced cable on HA-1.

I think the debate on balanced and SE is really down to the equipment and not the format itself.

What about the perceived improvement on using after market cable. Any one compared copper vs silver with LCD3? I see a Q French on the 2nd market but thinking a silver cable may be more suitable. Comments?

聽過 lcd3, both se and balanced, and both with stock cable
balanced 靜少少, 音場大少少, 定位準少少, 分析力高少少

i am a hifiman he-500 user
stock cable is silver se, and i am using a diy copper cable balanced, costs about HKD 400

the difference is clear, the background is more quiet and the soundstage is wider, the image is more clear, more fine and delicate, with the diy copper cable balanced

for this, i prefer balanced, no matter silver or copper

no comment on aftermarket cable, some worth the price some are not

覺唔覺lcd3聲音較沉?

可能我聽慣he-500, lcd3顯得向中下頻發展, 高頻上唔到, 當然lcd3的分析力he-500冇得比, 泛音比he-500豐富很多

我不知道換線有沒有幫助, but for my own, i will not prefer silver wire

q french 是 litz, 可考慮, 可惜二手賣的是se

litz 的好處是分析力高, 三頻平均, 而q french 的是 220蕊 44號 type 2 litz

if you can diy, ssp 有得賣 litz, 4xx蕊都有

i don't know if we can connect the headphone directly to the output of a dac

i tried it b4 with a HKD 2000 headphone, it works, but the sound quality is no good

for a HKD15k headphone, you definitely cannot do this, and not trying nor have any intention to do this

seamonster, it's very complicated to tell, i can only say it costs over HKD 10k, only headamp, no dac inside

forgot to mention one thing, there maybe a dc offset from the output of a dac
in case of unlucky, your headphone would be burnt if you connect your headphone directly to the analog output of your dac
