[#1] 70's Japanese Jazz My first encounter with Japanese Jazz was from the mid 90's, HMV back in those days had good collection of TBM xrcd's but they sold for ridiculous price. I have ever since became a loyal fan of Japanese jazz musicians and singers from that era, branched out from cd's to lp's, from TBM to other labels. Would like to start a thread for other fans to share their albums. My favourite singer, Mari Nakamoto. 最後修改時間: 2010-10-18 23:11:32 |

[#5] 70's Japanese Jazz Another label Audio Lab, I think they are still in business issuing SACDs. This is an album from my favourite Japanese jazz pianist Sugano Kunihiko 菅野邦彦. |

[#6] 70's Japanese Jazz Blow Up 1 & 2, Isao Suzuki 鈴木勲. Blow Up 2 was an interesting album, almost a re-union of TBM's musicians 20+ years after TBM's last album was made. 鈴木勲 was 70 years old when he recorded Blow Up 2 ! Don't know what happened to the label but it was the only album I came across, it's a shame they didn't do more. |

[#8] 70's Japanese Jazz ck2005, That's a LOOOONG and popular thread :-), I won't have a chance to find any old comments there, think I'll stay here for now. Do drop in an leave a few lines if anything interest you. I spent a few years putting together my current collection, after I started searching, I realized used LPs are pretty much what's available (some asking prices are simply outrageous). I started listening to some of the records only recently, want to force myself to do at least 1 day, think starting a thread and leave some notes a good way to do it. Tonight's album, Smile by Koji Moriyama 森山浩二, a unique voice and a little accent provided the right mix, piano by 山本剛, all jazz standards, very enjoyable album. |

[#12] 70's Japanese Jazz Sugano Kunihiko 菅野邦彦 live. Paino, Bass and Drum trio. As always relaxing and easy to listen to. mrbeansr, have never come across your album or Eiji Kitamura, he plays the clarinet, right ? |

[#13] 70's Japanese Jazz "Eiji Kitamura, he plays the clarinet" -------------------------------------- Yes, widely known as the Japanese Benny Goodman. I especially like the track Moonlight on the Colorado, seldom used as jazz material. BTW, the name 菅野邦彦 also appears on my CD, I thought it's Eiji Kitamura. Is it Sugano Kunihiko? (the English name of Sugano Kunihiko is not on the artist list of my CD). |

[#14] 70's Japanese Jazz Sorry, the name appears on my CD is 菅野沖彦 (Okihiko Sugano, a recording engineer), not 菅野邦彦 |

[#15] 70's Japanese Jazz Bingo Miki 三木敏悟 & Inner Galaxy Orchestra - Back To Sea. Big Band & Orchestra, frankly a little too hardcore for my taste, I enjoy listening to maybe half of the album. Personally I prefer more melodious pieces like the ones organized by Count Basie or Dave Grusin. |

[#16] 70's Japanese Jazz Hideo Ichikawa 市川秀男 Trio - You Are My Sunshine Think I bought this album from a r33 member along with many other albums. Never heard of them before but turned out to be one good purchase. Powerful and 'flashy (not in a bad way)' style, it was fun to listen to. |
