[#1] How to play DSD without laptop? Hi bros, need your advice again. Currently I play DSD files: WD NAS + Cary DMS500 ＞ RCA ＞ AMP Now if I want to change to new DAC: WD NAS + X ＞ DSD USB input in Meitner DAC ＞ AMP My questions are: What is X? Must have USD output (DSD signal) to Meitner. Can I even skip X and somehow stream DSD directly from NAS ＞ USB to Meitner? I don't want another laptop though. Thanks for your help, as usual. Your Cary DMS500 is player with DAC. You want to replace DMS500 with separate player and DAC.
You just buy a support DSD player. Like LUMIN

Many people like brand IO-data NAS sound genic. It support remote app for playing file to USB DAC.

Choose the player you may consider it can support DSD files formats you need.

Hi Formulae ching if I understand your requirement correctly all you need is a network streamer (no built-in DAC) as you have a Meitner DAC already.

Any streamer that supports DSD with USB out should work.

You may want to look at the new Lumin U1 Mini streamer at around HK10K. Lumin support MQA as well.

I have a Lumin A1 used as a streamer (Esoteric K-03x as DAC) and am happy with it. The new U1 Mini is better than the old A1 used as a streamer and a lot less.

Thanks all things for your advice.

Finally bought the IOData Soundgenic 3T from Tokyo last week. Successful streaming to Meitner DAC.

First impressions: No big difference from my existing WD NAS. In fact it is slightly less musical, and the 高音 sounds a bit harsh. But I guess it needs burn in.

Also my old NAS is powered by an LPS while the Soundgenic is powered by the stock DC adapter. That might be one of the reasons. I tried to plug the LPS to the Soundgenic but the socket is a very strange type.

Anyone has experience with that?
