| [#11] 3/5A match Marantz 8B or Mcintosh MC240 ?? Very very personal opinion: I prefer QUAD II at a much lower price to 8B and MC240. The alternative British Leak is well too expensive. The sound from these British vintage amp is much more refined than the US bred 8B or MC240 IMO. Yes, the 8B and MC240 are beefier but the LS3/5s demands for quality. The 12-watt QUAD should be able to drive your LS3/5s or Sonus Faber minitures upside down. |

The MC240 sensitivty is high, with its beefier bass, the LS3/5A could sound bigger which is particular useful when listening to grand orchestra music. I am not bass freak but the short fall of LS3/5A is so obvious that you want something direct and easy. There is a trade off to say the volin sound is not as silky or delicate as it should be but I think the trade off is worth while. |

Pilotrol I don't own both amp, how can I taste the sound? so I want to ask C Hing who own these amp. ---------------------------------------------- McIntosh MC-240的賣點是聲音厚重而且十分有力，低音厚度感比Marantz 8B豐厚，而且音色飽滿，場面感，舞臺感和整體平衡度表現不俗。重播男聲、Jazz、大場面管弦樂和Rock Music都是他的強項。Marantz 8B的賣點是聲音緊奏明快，低音厚度感雖及不McIntosh MC-240，但低音反應和靱度卻比McIntosh MC-240好，高音色較比McIntosh MC-240清細緻。重播女聲、小提琴、結他都是她的強項。 兩部後級都是古董器材中算是聲音比較中性，而且在古董二手市場上重售價值較穩定的器材。 事實上以上兩部後級本身都各有所長，而由兩部後級中還選其一其實是要依靠你個人口味和取向去重中作出選擇，所以小弟說loverromance兄你要用自己用自己的耳朵去尋找答案啊！最好先聽過兩部後級再重中找出你自己心目中的答案也不遲啊！ |
