| [#1] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Saw a used AudioNote Ongaku amp in Tim Chi over the weekend. I am in so much pain! It was my dream amp since I started w/ this hobby. Having seen Kondo-sama in person, and listening to his personal creation recreating music even though he no longer with us is such an emotional experience. I would love to take it home, but w/ 2 children at home, putting a 211 amp there will be reckless. I wonder if previous/current owners of Ongaku can share their experience w/ this lengendary amp.... just so that maybe my pain will be lessened :-)  |

| [#10] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Any other brother one w/ long term ownership experience? When I first started, I started w/ AN UK stuff while dreaming about ANJ Ongaku or Kassai. But after a while, got tired of the AN UK sound. But the ANJ stuff sounds quite different, a lot faster and more powerful sounding than the AN UK stuff (which isn't saying much). But long-term ownership of such iconoclastic amp may be a different story. Can someone big-brother share their Ongaku ownership experience? Thanks! |

MatthewC Hing, I own a Kondo Ongaku,and I have listened to Kondo San's system in his factory in Japan, it's one of my best hi-fi experience for the past 30 years,but sadly put, the Ongaku in my place does not sound close to the fabulous Kondo demonstration. |

| [#12] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! ptsang-hing, Were you using horns? What speaker were you using? My experience w/ SET amps so far has been that if you are not using horns, SET amp will only sound sweet and lush, but lacks true dynamics. |

ANUK silver foil cap is oil filled whereas ANJ caps are not. Oil filled caps can never have the speed of non oil-filled caps. I did some comparison between ANUK, Jensen, Mcap, Kondo silver foil caps and they all sound different. |

MatthewC Hing, I'm using a pair of Scotland made speakers, recommanded by ANJ for owners of Kondo amps if you do own a pair of Kondo speakers.FYI, several years ago,Kondo San did make to order Kondo speakers for Kondo amp owners(not horn type).After listening to the Kondo speakers once in the AN factory,I urge, almost beg ANJ to make a pair for me,they say they have no time to make speakers and ask me to wait, they'll let me know when they commence to accept orders. That was about 2 years ago. Since Kondo San has passed away, I don't know whether ANJ will make Kondo speakers any more. By the way, if you decide to buy the 2nd- hand Ongaku, pls let me know. Don't need to worry about the condition of the amp, all Kondo products carry a life-long guarentee, of course if they are properly used and handled. |

I am still sitting on the fence about it as I do have young children at home and having a 1000+ V amp at home is, well, dangerous. Plus, I am not sure about long-term ownership of such idiosyncrtic piece. I can live with equipments w/ character (like Shindo, had it for 6+ years), but not overwhelmingly colored in one way or the other (like AN UK). Wish I can have in-home audition.... but this being HK, will be tough...... |

| [#20] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! These 'itchy' items...hmmm I bought an Audio Note DAC5 Signature once directly from PQ of AN UK. The price was insanely high. I bought it, and did not enjoy it at all. AN sound is completely controlled (and altered) by their famous transformers.
