| [#7] BMW M3/4 hi fkclo, Thanks for the input. Most salesmen are mature enough not to read a book by its covers, so what we wear or drive should not make much difference. Some wise ones would let you test drive even you told him you are not ready to buy. Anyway, it is always interesting to read or see youtube about A is faster than B and how C is better than D. I think Porsche has a lot to offer and even some Japanese cars claim to be faster than 911, of course, under certain conditions and who was behind the wheel. When we look at a classic car like 911, M3/4 and alike, it is the overall package. The exterior appearance and proportion, interior and ergonomics, driving sensations and feel. They all form part of the consideration. It is the first time that BMW has created the M4 for coupe and keeping M3 as the 4 doors. I was having a high expectation of the M4 as the previous model of M3 coupe is my dream car. BTW, I have an 335 coupe myself and loving it. M4 is somewhat disappointing as far as exterior is concerned. It is wider and lower. M3 with 4 doors, on the other hand, looks more like the old M3 coupe. Masculine and sturdy are how you feel about the car. Comparing the spec sheets, both M3 and M4 perform exactly the same. | [#8] BMW M3/4 Porsche is of course an excellent car but not without its shortcomings. I had the Cayanne S for a few years and quite a bit of annoyance as an owner. |

| [#9] BMW M3/4 All car manufacturers have off days. The important thing is how they would handle customers who were unlucky enough getting one of their lemons. In HK, such customers would probably have no recourse but to take a loss and sell it to another unlucky soul. |

| [#11] BMW M3/4 #7 JCR33, Yes, If I am to choose, I will also pick the M3. I have been toying with the idea of getting a M3 for a number of years, but fear that my skill is not yet there to make good use of such a legendary rear wheel driven car. This is why I am still watching, while happily cursing in my compact AWD. I too have a Porsche but it is the poor man version - a Cayman S with PDK. While I am not using it daily the Cayman S is one hell of a satisfying car to drive - useable power, superb handling, and sweet iconic NA flat six. The Cayman has never given me any trouble, except that I have to replace the rear suspension bushings a year back, hurting my wallet a little bit. I am also seriously considering the new Cayman GTS, but now is tearing myself between the Cayman GTS and the Macan S. The Cayman GTS is still winning a little bit - considering this will be most likely be the last Cayman that will be equipped with a NA machine. |

| [#12] BMW M3/4 Hi fkclo, Good to know that you like the M3 too and another Porsche owner. No Porsche is poor man version as they are made for different needs. I too like the look of the new Cayman but having only 2 seats is not practical for me. Another issue is the bad experience I had with Porsche on the cost of service and maintenance. For a while, I did reconsider the new 911 as my next dream to have, but M3 seems to be a closer target now. Do you know the simcity? I believe he has/d a Boxster/Cayman once. He also told me how great the Boxster/Cayman design and performance are. The Macan is a nice package but after driving and owning the Cayanne, both the old and new model, I think I have enough of the MPV. M3 can still be seen as an ordinary 4 door car if you don't push the gas pedal hard to make the noise. Porsche is easily targeted as a sport car even it is much quieter. Well horses for courses and both M3 and Cayman are lovely cars to have. I think they are about the same price range.  |

| [#13] BMW M3/4 Hi, JCR33, Yes, the two seater configuration of the Cayman is limiting. But other than that it has storage in the front and the back, which is more than sufficient in most situations. I can drive it to pick up my wife at the airport - with her luggage. That said, if I have additional passengers, the the Cayman has to stay home. This is why I need a 5 door S3 which is now my daily drive - relaxing, but can take a sprint if required. In the event I have stuff to move, that I will revert to my trusty Noah. I never enjoyed driving the Noah though, despite all the gadgets that comes with it. The Macan S will be the only car I need if I go for it. But if I go for a M3, I probably still need a 4WD for the wet seasons in Hong Kong. And if I drag the decision a little longer, the new A4/S4/RS4 will be over the horizon in 2015..... 最後修改時間: 2014-08-24 12:37:30 |

| [#15] BMW M3/4 fkclo, I do have a family of 5, 3 grown up boys will not be too happy to go to the dog seats! ;-) If I ever get an 911 or Cayman, that would have to be my spare car for Sun drive. Tried Audi and had MB before, I am afraid not for me, Bimmer or Porsche are the 2 that tick my boxes. Maserati is possible but not sure about reliability now. |

| [#17] BMW M3/4 JCR33, Great video review. If I have to be picky, I really get annoyed by the bonnet seam of recent BMW cars - that seam, right at the front, just destroy the otherwise pretty good look of the car. The demand on driver's skill is still a major concern to me - as I have to admit I am not a drifter and have never found fun pushing a car to its limit. This is why when I first sling the Cayman S around a corner - it opened a whole new experience to me - as I can never imagine a Cayman S can do corners just like that! But with a M3 I am not sure if I have that leap of faith as I took in the Cayman.... I like Audi (owned 6 new Audi's in a row) because it is not demanding on driving skills and still make me feel good at times. Good build quality and very forgiving setup. When I have my first Audi in 1996, it was a low profile car, and I still remember having modifications done inside out for my first A4 which was great fun. But with growing age, I am more contended with the stock package and haven't done much to the cars since the 4th one. I was lucky that all Audis I have owned have been pretty reliable. All the hiccups during my ownership were mainly deal to the 3rd party modifications I put on it - chipping, water injection, large turbos.. which I simply can't put the blame on Audi. Mercedes? I have always wanted to try one but my boss at home has a bias against MB. I rented one while on vacation in Europe but was not impressed. Other than the S-Class which is still on my to-have list when I get older, I have no desire for a MB at this moment too. The recent iterations on the new A and CL class do not impress me much, and many reviews I read were quite critical on the ride quality which is supposed to be a hallmark of MB. So I am still sitting on the fence for a BMW, or another Porsche. Maserati is an interesting topic. I liked the old sports saloon format of it - the Quattroporte pre-2000, which kind of like a streamlined Toyota Crown Saloon, given a feel like wolf in sheep's skin. Unfortunately Maserati has been notorious for its reliability in the old days. A friend of mine owned one and he always joked about the Maserati as an charming Italic girl friend - that can light up one of your night but no good as wife - as the car spent a lot of time in the service garage. The newer generations show much improvements in build quality and reliability, but the look is getting too high-profile and flashy. I still hate the tiny shift lever though. If I have the money I would like to try a Aston Martin - and have a taste of the very special British heritage. But this will be an item way down on my wanted-list :-) |

| [#19] BMW M3/4 fkclo, I do share a lot of your views, especially on Aston Martin and Maserati. M3 is not perfect but I like the way BMW has pushed the boundary in the last decade or 2. I am not a drifter nor do I push my car to the limit. But I must admit to like the relatively low profile look of a 4 door but when needed I can go from 0-60km in 4-5 sec, faster than most cars unless I am unlucky enough to have a super sport cars next to me. :-) How much is the M3 in HK now? In Sydney, where I live, M3 is going for A$180K, with some extra options but not everything. So it is about HK$1.3m. We do pay 10% GST and luxury car tax. |

| [#20] BMW M3/4 The listed base price for M3 in Hong Kong is HK$1.238M. Picking a few options I would say a more realistic price will be HK$1.4M, which is more or less the same price level as a new Cayman S with a few options picked.
