[#1] Audi Maintenance My A4 B6 has run for more than 900K KM. DCH recommends me to replace the timing belt, water pump and suspension arms. It costs more than 69K. Anyone have same experience? Any cheaper garage recommended to me? Thank you |

[#3] Audi Maintenance Assuming you made a typo and it was 90K (not 900K). It is not likely that you need to change the timing chain (not belt in a B6)unless you are getting some symptoms like startup rattling, performance degrade and on & off fault codes. This site gives you a general idea about it and it causes you about HK$24,000 (parts only) for a complete timing chain service (which is highly unlikely). When DCH said you need to change the suspension, I suppose what they meant was the shocks (not the complete suspension systems). IMHO, you won't need to do a thing unless you got a leaking shocks. Well, if you drove 90K in HK, I bet the warranty has already expired. Then, why go back to the all too famous throat slashing DCH for that kind of service? http://www.euroaddiction.net/forum/b6-b7-platform/5527-b6-b7-s4-timing-chain-faq-information-discussion-thread.html 最後修改時間: 2011-08-29 09:30:57 |

[#4] Audi Maintenance After 90000km, i think it's the bushings of the suspension arms that's gone.(the suspensions feel "loose" and there may be uneven tire wear if the bushings crack with age) You can't just change the bushing in HK but the whole set of arms for the multi-link suspension. This will set you back ~$10k-15k for the original parts alone(the price from say German Motor parts/Pyramid Universal) If my memory serves me correctly B6 A4 runs on belt rather than metal chain which should be more or less maintenance-free. Timing belt change by mechanics other than the dealer cost around $5000 PS: Maintaining an old Audi in HK is no fun |

[#5] Audi Maintenance PS: Maintaining an old Audi in HK is no fun ---------------------------------------- Exactly. Why spend $70k to maintain an old Audi when you can get a new one for $320k with warranty? 早賣早著 最後修改時間: 2011-08-29 11:24:27 |

[#7] Audi Maintenance Yes sorry for my typo. It's 90km now. Thanks all for your expert opinion. Your info esp from Mr. Hellow is quite right. The service consultant from DCH said the brushings are gone so he advised me to replace the whole set of suspension arms. I am thinking of just replacing the timing belt and leaving the suspension arm untouched. I agree that maintaining an Audi in HK is not something reasonable. |

[#10] Audi Maintenance If your car is regularly serviced by DCH, you can bargain with DCH for a good discount. In my experience, it can be up to 30% of the original quotation. |
