| [#1] "HK Only" Taxi Stand? I want brothers to comment on my experience trying to catch taxi to Kowloon from "Taxi Stand" outside Times Square, Causeway Bay. There are two 'taxi stand' outside Times Square, I understand, one is "normal" other is "kowloon/cross harbour". Due to long queue and no taxi at the "kowloon/cross harbour" taxi stand, I choose to get a taxi at the "normal" taxi stand and pay the extra return tunnel fee. The taxi driver says that this is "HK Island" only taxi stand and I should go to "Kowloon Taxi stand" if I want to cross harbour. I said I never heard of this and if I am willing to pay the return tunnel, he cannot refuse. Anyway finally called the police who came and told me that this is "HK Island" only taxi stand. I said I never heard of this but if the police say so, then I have nothing to say. I said there is no sign to say this anywhere. Afterwards, I ask my friends and noone has heard of this. I called Transport Department and they said that there is no such thing as "HK Island" only taxi stand. I told them my situation and they said they will double check if there is regulation that where there is "normal" and "Kowloon/Cross Harbour" taxi stand in the same street, can the "normal" taxi refuse to take me. I still await their confirmation but i feel the police gave me wrong information or just say anything to try to close the case. |

Thanks - I understand the same and I only agreed to get off the taxi when police came and said "this taxi stand is only for HK Island and the taxi can refuse to go to Kowloon" I was surprised but did not argue because the police say so. Once I find all the facts to confirm I am right,I will make a formal complaint to the police if he told me the wrong information just so he can close the case. Over the last few years I feel it is more and more difficult to catch taxi when I want to cross HK to Kowloon or Kowloon to HK. Nowadays I just try to drive mostly even if it is more expensive in tunnel/parking because the "taxi lo" are so "inch and do not want my money. |

| [#10] Thank for all the replies. "只有聽過「只可過海」的士，未聽過「不可過海」的士" Agree and that is why at the time my wife and I were so angry that the taxi driver asked me if I was HK resident!! I am even more angry the police officer came to confirm this probably just to close the case and eventually we had to get out and look so stupid. | [#13] "HK Only" Taxi Stand? 其實我明你好興，亦都無錯；下次你可以先話過海，佢拒絕後就話去灣仔華潤大廈轉過海的（多數有車的）；比錢時取收據及記低司機名，投訴佢拒絕過海。 咁樣有多個好處，第一自己唔使勞氣；第二個的士佬因短程都要硬食，有排激氣。第三你最後果有車回九龍，最緊要回家舒舒服服；第四你投訴佢佢又有排煩，以解你心頭之很。 |

| [#18] 只有聽過「只可過海」的士，未聽過「不可過海」的士" Yes, although I did not get down the police officer and taxi details at the time, he said because we called 999, a 'log' was recorded and he needed to take down my HKID and the taxi driver HKID to 'close case'. Because I know the exact date and time, they should be able to find out the other details using my HKID. Unless they say 'sorry computer error, no record'! |
