| [#2] Audi TTRS My TTS reaches its 2nd birthday today. It has been a trouble free 2 years of ownership and the car performs very well - to an extent it can give a little surprise to those naughty guys on the highway :) The good thing about TTS is its suitability for everyday use - good fuel economy if I am gentle with the pedals, and the suspension is very compliant with HK road conditions - like those at Lung Cheung Road. The TTS really shines in wet conditions (like these humid dates last week) as the extra grip and traction of the 4WD just inspires confidence so that finding my own pace and space was never stressful. I drove the TTRS for some 400km in Europe. It is definitely a great, stary, and exciting little car. Noticiably faster than the TTS, and the 5 cyliner turbo is just insanely impressive (going to the a real legendary engine) and sounds lovely. I keep smiling while driving on the twisty uphill roads in Italy - at speeds that I never thought would be possible. [If I stay there for a week more I should be able to do faster - as the car and the road are both new to me]. The TTRS is like guiding on rails with so much grip that no corners is too tight to manage. I did give the RS5 ahead of me some embarassing times :) On the autoban, the TTRS is stable and well mannered at over 250km. There are very few cars that can shake the TTRS away even on a freeway. On twisty road, the TTRS give more expensive cars a good run for the money. If you wish to drive a TTRS in Hong Kong the suspension is one thing to consider. In good condition roads of Europe, the drive is firm but still comfortable. But I am afraid it will not be as practical as a TTS in Hong Kong. An early Sunday drive or late evening expedition would be fun, but driving daily in heavy traffic and over pot holes, you may wonder if this is the right car. BTW, a new TTRS+ was just launched in Germany - with more power and torque, and bring 0-100kph to just 4.1s. So, if you want a TTRS, you should check out when the TTRS+ is available in Hong Kong. But I think this is not going to be cheap. The stock TTRS will cost around $900K so the + version will likely cost over H$1M, even if the dealer cares to ship some in Hong Kong. One more thing to note, though. Many said Audi's are boring - including the TTRS. To me, it is a safe, easy car, as it does not require the driver to be a 'pro' to squeeze out its potential. For the mortals, it is almost impossible to find out the limits of a TTRS on a normal road and you will have to do it on a track. The TTRS (and TTS for this matter) is just so precise, efficient yet forgiving so one does not need to keep sliding the tail to have fun. It is a "feel good" car for those car lovers who never inspire to be a Senna. A TTRS would be a ideal 2nd or 3rd car in the garage, in my humble opinion. 最後修改時間: 2012-02-26 17:33:40 |

Originally a TTRS was on the list of cars to be driven, but eventually the TTRS was not available. So I had no chance to test it. If you later change your TTS to TTRS, please let me know. Regards. | [#5] Audi TTRS I have actually been pondering over a TTRS for a while. My TTS is good but like very choice in life - I hate to regret about not having a TTRS. This is why I keep looking at the TTRS, over the past 12 months. But the urge to switch from TTS to TTRS is, honestly, mainly because of my desire of that miraculous 5 cylinder turbo engine. For that matter I can consider RS3 as an alternative. Unfortunately, Audi HK has stopped taking orders for RS3 so the TTRS is currently the only choice if one really want to go for a Audi 5 cylinder turbo. The RS3 is around HK$100K cheaper than the TTRS, but around 100kg heavier. It is however more practical, and low profile - I like to be a wolf in sheep's skin. The downside is the RS3 is dressed in outdated metal jacket, as the new A3 in on the horizon (just months away). Mostly importantly, the A3 will never have the same icon status earned by the TT in Audi, or even modern automobile history. Mind all that there is no test drive of TTRS, and you will have to wait for at least 6-8 months for a TTRS to deliver. Which means most customer will have to pay the deposit out of blind faith (or believe what the internet reviews and you-tube videos trying to tell you). And for RS3, you will have to inquire about backdoor channels and beg heartily to have one. The RS3 is going to be a rarer car than TTRS in HK. BTW, the TTRS+ is even more gorgeous outside, judging from official press photos. Some many cars... so little time. |

Too bad Audi Hk sales never give out RS series catalogues to walk-in ppl... very bad attitude so to speak So now that orders have been ceased, will there still be any catalogues left? I really want one badly!! |

| [#16] Audi TTRS People are already starting to think the RS3 is going to be a collector's item, and retain its value much better than many others. Good reasons - it is a practical 2.5 litre car, and shock you with its explosive accelereation and glue-like grip, and it is rare. A week ago I received an offer for a new RS3 with some options - but the asking price is $830K - which is already quite a bit above the official price. I passed because I would prefer a red one. |
