Not a fan of Bimmer and MB (pervious Bimmer owner). If branding is not an important factor to her, my best recommendation is Ford Fiesta 1.0, economical to run, easy to drive and park, the engine is (give a try), inexpensive (check with Ford HK, they have discount recently), safe (7 airbags and five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests). http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/ford/fiesta/hatchback/safety-reliability/ Disclaimer: I do not work for Ford nor am their business partner. | [#9] 師奶買餸，接孩子車⋯ Correction: Due to pricing factor, Fiesta 1.0 in HKDM only equips with 5 airbag instead of 7. Please double-check with the dealership before purchase. A side story, my friend's girlfriend total lost her Fiesta 1.0 within 6 months after purchase. It was not her fault but a taxi driver. He decided to buy the same car again for her because he really appreciated the engineering and the quality of this little Fiesta. It is a matter of pleasing yourself or others. Likewise, people give bad comments on AF, 90% have never owned or even driven an AF in their life. Isn't all you need for these purposes a simple and basic car which has no hassle to drive and park? Unless, you shop at ICC and pick up your kids from Harrow, then, it would be a different story. ;-) I cannot agree Fiesta 1.0 is a "driver's car". | [#18] 師奶買餸，接孩子車⋯ [16] Resell value is a more interesting question. Brand new, A180 299k Fiesta 1.0 159k Say, 3 years later, the 2nd hand price for a Fiesta 1.0 might be, wild guess, 100k. Can you sell a 3 years old A180 at 239k? I doubt that. To begin with, Fiesta 1.0 is inexpensive. This is one advantage. I am not saying Fiesta 1.0 is a perfect car. In fact, it is not, especially on branding factor. However, for shopping and school run, it is surely a strong candidate. Personally, I also considered V40 and Guiliettia years ago. | [#20] 師奶買餸，接孩子車⋯ I also have a 7 seater for helper and family. As a work horse, no complaint. However, some c9 仔 (even myself) might find 7 seater is too big to handle. As Paul sir's requirement, 4 door small to mid size, I think v40 is best among all listed. My point is, apart from BMW, MB, Audi, Toyota, Honda, there are other manufacturers which also make good cars. I did not even pay attention to Ford (except Cosworth RS50) until I know about my friend's Fiesta. There is no one perfect car for all purposes, but surely cars to serve different purposes. |
