DIY is fun but still need to estimate the present value, repair cost(less than $100 for 6 nos. 18650 cells) and cost to buy(must be high, can be considered if appliance being very old) Soldering battery cells is simple but must be discharged first, otherwise spark or explosion. If you need to troubleshoot the charging board down to component level, it's another hierarchy. | [#33] 一部廢左電池既 dyson v6 仲有咩用? Try to repair first, unless they are beyond economical repair.(repair cost too high, commonly found in HK) Learn how to DIY to cut down repair cost. Dump only after such considerations and the appliances are already quite old. No straightforward answer, case by case. Got a notebook with burnt MB(not simple component fault), local repair cost was $2,200. Taobao, got to ship back whole unit (quoted RMB 300-500) but may not be reliable, needed custom clearance or even taxation. Found a compatible MB on Ebay UK(no MX130 display chipset), at GBP 80. Replaced it and re-installed windows 10/11. Working OK. Huibo camera dry box not working. The 3.7V dc voltage was not available. Put on an external power supply 220ac/5Vdc with 2 diode droppers for getting it work due to urgency. Bought a compatible PCB board mounted transformer on Taobao though lower voltage 3.3Vdc, RMB 20 only. Fully compatible one is RMB 70, not worth. Won't trim to maximum anyway.
