The transfer, one of the most protracted in Premier League history, is yet to be completed but Arsenal expect it to be done by the weekend. According to a senior source at the club, all the funds generated by the sale will be reinvested in new players. Arsenal have been linked with Scott Dann, Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill. Fabregas, 24, would be unable to feature for Barcelona in the Champions League if he plays a part in Arsenal's match with Udinese on Tuesday, motivating both clubs to complete a deal as swiftly as possible. The BBC understands a fee of £30m, plus over £5m of additional performance-related payments, is close to being reached for Fabregas. It is understood that, if he is sold, the Spaniard will be due £4m in compensation - £1m for each year of his contract he did not complete - but may be prepared to forego that payment in order to facilitate a deal. The transfer fee is significantly less than the £40m that Arsenal had been holding out for and suggests that the Gunners felt they had no choice but to sell a player who wanted to leave. Fabregas joined Arsenal from the Catalan giants in 2003 and, since making his name in north London, has been persistently linked with a return to his home club. If the deal goes through as expected, Fabregas will become Barcelona's second major signing of the summer following their £23m purchase of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez. |

In the past few years, we saw some hungry youngesters proofing themselves during the preseasons. But this year, there is not a single outstanding youngester. Maybe Miyaichi has got it. I have high hope for this boy. They should also get rid of S18 ASAP, whenever he plays, we leak in goals like mad. The rest of the team are not fit, maybe except RVP. They missed Wilshere, Walcott, Nasri last night. The only up side is, Gervinho looks really good. But until he plays against the very physical defenders in EPL, we will never know. He was the only one (and probably Miyaichi as well) who took on the defenders and dare to dash into the box. |

I reckon we won't be seeing at least one of F4 or R8 next week. If we are relying on R7 to be the keyman, we are doomed. If RVP gets injured, we are doomed too. (This is highly probable due the course of the season due to his injury history) Someone said we will sign that Camberlain kid from Southampton next week. So what! Is he the super quality that Wenger said yesterday? I DON'T think so! |
