| [#1] Chord DAC Are there any one know where I can repair Chord decoder DAC 64 , it is an old model since 2001, the Chord DAC not functioning decode first then power off and cannot turn on . Is too old to fix need to change . please anyone can give me an advice . |

| [#5] Chord DAC If it's related to power supply, it can be repaired though not worth doing so due to age. A new DAC from SMSL is pretty good, yet with DSD USB input. | [#10] Chord DAC My vintage PS audio reference link worked for a little while upon powered up. Opened up, one rectifier was burnt(double layer PCB board), replaced but still to no avail. Simply want to give away to someone for parts/repair. So, bought the SMSL D/A instead. Even AV walkman, won't repair D/A(or projector) due to low success rate(unless related to power supply only). You do your homework to look for the shops. |

| [#13] Chord DAC Actually, if you like the dac, why not fix it. You can try av Walkman and see what they have to say. Old dac has its own charm. (I have many dacs from the 90s. | [#16] Chord DAC Same for other electrical appliances which are aged/out of spec, fixing would still be fine but sometimes, confined to DIY for preliminary checks/obvious symptoms. There is a terminology called "beyond economical repair". Besides, performance is not on par with latest standard. Still using CRT TV which is working, can't really help. D/A, no repairman would bother to fix since the chance of success is rather low.(except confined to PS, can't tell without inspection so would reject the work right from the beginning) Can call little Chan(not the big Chan, only clerical work) AV walkman for any service. For DIY, use ESR meter to check all electrolytic cap's, check all diodes for continuity, any burnt resistors.(transistor/IGBT for more advanced DIYérs) No clue, simply dump. |

| [#18] Chord DAC I also had a old power amp and want to take it to repair. Considering the cost and delivery time to repairing, it was quite hesitating whether it should be repaired or not. But wasteful if the amp is scrapped to rubbish bin! |
