| [#55] 有無試過搵人上門洗冷氣？ Maintenance has 2 aspects, periodic maintenance(namely cleaning and disinfection, physical checks, can be DIY) once every few months and overhaul work(chemical cleaning/rust removal/check refrigerant with a view to restoring to factory spec. at least up to 90%) once every few years. Without overhauling the outdoor unit, the chance of success for the latter is low. Cleaning indoor unit only at high cost is another gimmick, same as adding refrigerant to room cooler and lubrication years ago. | [#53] 有無試過搵人上門洗冷氣？ Wrap the fan motor with plastic bag and cellophane tape, don't think the motor is totally enclosed.(IP54) Once, the outdoor unit insulation was bad after cleaning, needed to strip down the motor, exposing the winding and dry out with heater. Check the capacitor terminals for any signs of heating, most vulnerable to failure. Already replaced caps a few times over the years.(polypropylene type from RS) Topping up of R22 refrigerant after measurement＞＞＞cleaning alone(not for room cooler which is basically a gimmick) Won't recommend DIY for R410a refrigerant, the working pressure is too high(stalling already 20bar, close to 300 psi, suction running 10 bar) and any mal-operation(tripping of compressor), the back pressure might burst the can having no non-return valve.(should use stronger cylinder tank but overpriced) Besides, R410a is a mixture and in order to achieve the correct composition, one would need to add the refrigerant in liquid form at the suction side, not at discharge.(liquid can kill the compressor) Must add very slowly for complete vaporization. This is tricky. |

| [#50] 有無試過搵人上門洗冷氣？ Must have dirt since the condenser coil is at the air suction side, hence lower inlet velocity. One newer unit(condenser placed inside washroom) had dirt/dust all over the coil as if it were a kind of air filter.(hence A/C not cool, current was a bit higher)Dirt layer could be peeled off by hand. But for room cooler, it's at the fan discharge side, much cleaner in having self-blasting effect. But the water after rinsing was still very dirty, may come from the bottom chassis only. Won't recommend coil water to remove the oxidation as shown on photo since it's already 10 yo, can't really help too much. (unless installed at Balcony concrete floor/preformed concrete opening)Besides, the supporting aluminium framework is too flimsy to hold another man. I replaced outdoor fan in situ(needed "peeling"of the casing), capacitor, and compressor(could turn on but clogged capillary tube was the problem) The mild steel welded cage was constructed to BDD's requirement. So, quite safe AFA loading is concerned. Still needed the nerve to work outside high rise building. The conclusion is don't put too much money on the indoor unit only, simply having disinfection or removing dirt once for a while. | [#42] 有無試過搵人上門洗冷氣？ Worx tool is fine, got the 120mm wheel cutting saw and hammer drill.(not used often) 20V dc system should be OK for home application, though not as powerful as 220V ac system. Price would be in the order of $1,000 due to high battery price.(Taobao) Pressurized hand pump is not exactly for cleaning but for spraying chemicals (bleaching solution) into the coil, wait and then use tooth brush and cloth to assist. Then rinse. The exercise can be conducted once every few months, not few years, for effective disinfection.(not exactly to improve cooling) So the setup must be simple.
