[#6171] Leica Club A good reason to keep the R50 is that the minimum distance is 0.5m over 0.7m of M50. It may not not seem much but at times it has an advantage for both macro and Bokeh effect for portraits.

[#6172] Leica Club Sad to see R is not as popular but it was at the time leading the industry and the Leica's prime range. Chi, your R 50 2.0 has the close focus of 0.5m is the standard for most R lens, especially the wide angle. The 35 1.4 is also 0.5m and the 24 2.8 is even closer, only 0.3m. I have so much fun taking wide angle images and close up.

[#6173] Leica Club These are pictures I have taken with the SL +various lenses I own at the times, M90/2, M Summitar 50/2, R50/2, Voigts APO 50/2. SL is indeed a nice camera as I do love the colours, vibrant with deep texture.

[#6174] Leica Club Unfortunately even SL is still the underdog when compared to M. To me SL is so good and only slight heavier and bulkier but the versatility and functionality are much better than M. Having said that M has its place in most Leica fans' heart.

[#6175] Leica Club One of my all time favourites lens is the 50 1.2, even it is only a reissue but it fits perfectly fine with my needs. I don't think I would like to buy an original vintage which could be so expensive that I would dare to use it. Or i have no confidence that I can find one that is trouble free.

[#6176] Leica Club I haven't paid a visit to my friend's secondhand cameras shop for a while now. He doesn't have much Leica stock because it's getting more and more expensive and difficult to acquire. What I found was that there were many Chinese made lenses, 7Artisans, TTArtisan, LAOWA and others. I spotted this TTArtisan 50/1.4 ASPH and I asked if I could take home for a trial.

| [#6177] Leica Club Surprisingly(or not) it's very much like a Leica 50 LUX! The cravings of the metal, the designs and colours of the numbers and alphabets are almost like the latest offer from Leica. Let's be realistic that we could not talk about Leica qualities(sharpness, texture, colours and contrast) as this would be just a insult. I am just looking at a cheap lens that is made in China and what does it bring to me. To be honest with you I am impressed!! | [#6178] Leica Club The reason I went to see my friend was that if he could replace the sensor inside the M-E. Sadly not as Leica has stopped such programme. To explain the issue I have with the M-E, these two pictures would highlight the sensor issue. The first with faulty sensor which has long damaged strip right in the middle and top of the sensor and the second one with much editing I have to apply. No big deal really as I just spend more time to edit each picture!!!!!!!! Pain!!!

[#6179] Leica Club I wish I would have the R180/2.8 Macro APO because it is such a fab lens, maybe one day. Took these last year when playing with the SL.

[#6180] Leica Club Why not, it should be a few around. Maybe your bro-in-law has one on the shelf... Having said that, trying to focus with this lens and with our aging eyesight, it can be a challenge.

[#6181] Leica Club He might have but I am not sure. Funny enough the time in HK I had only seen his two Hasselblad's X2D and 907/100 and using a Fuji Morrorless, not a sight of any Leica gears. I do know he has many Leica stuff for sure.

[#6182] Leica Club Yeah, Hassel is now most HK Leica fans' new toys and I know a few. I can understand how it appeals to them as they need new toys..., especially they are still young and curious.

[#6183] Leica Club Both Leica and Hassel are good and they produces different feeling of images. Both are good stuff.

[#6184] Leica Club Totally agreed. I should think gears help to develop and shape our style. Both Leica and Hasselblad, and indeed other makes, are good tools. Nonetheless, what you pay for may give you extra mile to enhance your photography.

[#6185] Leica Club Hi shadow-green and Chi Photography is one thing but brands can be many. Most are competing for business and survival. Many good brands came and gone for many reasons. Those remaining must have a strong reason to stay. Leica is 100 years this year and it almost disappeared if it wasn't the current investor and management. Of course fans and market conditions played an important role. Business development requires new ideas and knowing what the market wants. Hanging on to the diehard fan will not have larger market, they need to create and the young generation is the biggest one. So Leica developed Q and it was the best possible outcome and it helped Leica to re-establish its position and extend the financial resources. If you have time, we should all visit Leitzpark in Wetzler, where it displays beautifully all the new and old products, the history and future of Leica. All architecturally design with the theme of photography. So it is a showroom, a museum, a theme park and hotel all in one.
