| [#5807] Leica Club Actually, with smartphones being so powerful and compact, a lot of stunning photos and images can be seen in many media. Traditional or professional gear seems overkill most of the time. Of course the difference is when you have to enlarge to full size but how often do we need to do that. I have been told that the 50APO was designed based on the M9, which sounds logical as M9 was the only choice Leica had. However does it mean that 50APO should not be used with M11? |

| [#5820] Leica Club JC, M APO 50 was designed for M9 monochrome. Peter Karbe at that time clearly stated that we needed the resolution of M9 monochrome to fully appreciate the power of that lens, and that an ordinary M9 with a color sensor would fail to do so. Color sensors have a lower effective resolution when compared with their monochrome counterparts. Lens design (especially APO lenses) has WAY superseded sensor technology in terms of resolution, and a sensor with a higher resolution is always welcomed. In the past I do not believe in high resolution. Especially when pixel pitch is involved in the equation. I always thought that a higher resolution would result in a worse low light performance. Something equivalent to engineering "trade-offs". In reality, technology evolves and we can have a higher resolution sensor with a better low light performance. Technological advancements have actually broken the barrier of engineering "trade-offs". Personally there is one more element why I prefer M11 to my previous M10P----color tone and saturation. |

| [#5821] Leica Club Thanatos, What caught my attention about the 35 APO is the 300mm focus distance and the compact size. APO is of course important but secondary. | [#5823] Leica Club Yeah, they could work but not as flexible as the 35 APO. I have tried different macro adaptors including the ELPROE52. Whilst they give excellent effect on very close macro but 35APO has given me a different perspective even only after the first week of use. Actually 50 1.2 with Novoflex LEM/VIS II are quite good, better than 35mm.
