GS250, good news !

No way a 4GR-FSE can drive this big vehicle.

Anyway, sad to see the GS has ended up this way.
Compared with the 1st gen Aristo... well......

A 2.5L engine for the GS? That would be real on9.

You're thinking 1JZ-GTE or what??

FYI there is NO turbo variation in the GR engine lineup

http://lexusenthusiast.com/2011/07/23/2012-lexus-gs-250-coming-to-europe/

"The rest of their review, which is surprising in its shortness, has no complaints about a lack of power or really anything about the engine at all, which is a good sign the 2.5L V6 is a fully capable powerplant for the GS."

But HK is NOT Europe
Why stick to Europe standards?
Europe even has diesel IS'es, does that mean we should look forward to that too?

Would rather stick to US/Jap trends
if they get 2GR then HK should stick to 2GR

Lexus GS has been marketed as a mid-level luxury sport sedan in the Lexus line up while the low end Mercedes E series and BMW 5 series are marketed as entry level products for those with lessor means wanting the "B" badges. Completely different marketing positioning. Bringing out a low end GS would likely eats into the sales of the IS series, cannibalizing its own market.

"...while the low end Mercedes E series and BMW 5 series are marketed as entry level products for those with lessor means wanting the "B" badges..."

No mean to offence, just wonder how would the C-Class and 3-series be positioned ? If their "ENTRY" level is 5-series and E-Class !
#34 - h9713325 :
2011-08-22 21:07:30

i guess it's reasonable to define E2XX OR 52X a entry level benz or BMW, no matter 32X or 52X, it's just junior level with no power at all...

"..i guess it's reasonable to define E2XX OR 52X a entry level benz or BMW, no matter 32X or 52X, it's just junior level with no power at all..."

Thanks for your elaboration ! To me, really amazing !

So, can we classify GS250 as an entry level of Lexus ?

#37 - h9713325 :
2011-08-23 01:50:11

haha....honestly, i'm confused...........how to rate a 135i with a 523i??.......

for me, gs250 is ridiculous..can't imagine how it does work for the luxury sporty GS series equiped with that severe underpowered-engine.......
#38 - hellow :
2011-08-23 11:19:01

Why so disappointed for a GS250?? Forget whatever bold statement Lexus has made all these years about their GS, it has never been considered sporty compared with her rivals like BMW/Audi(except for the domestic Aristo many moons ago), not just the engine, the whole chassis just didn't make it, it's far more floaty than anything that can even remotely be considered sporty. There is nothing to boast about for the outgoing GS300 either engine wise

According to UK's press, GS250 with the 2500cc V6 will be priced against 523 ,E250 and the like. So expect to be selling at around the 500k mark in HK.

Why an under-powered E200, E250, 523i... is treated as Entry level instead of ridiculous or on# ?

How come we can't have GS250 ? No matterv you treat it as "Entry Level", "junior level" or whatever ???

Really funny !

As hellow mentioned, nobody consider GS as Luxury Sport car after the ceased of production of Aristo V-Spec (Japan Domestic nomenclature)!

就算Yen幾貴都好, 香港Lexus想生存, 死都要死Lee個價反黎(e.g. 超SE特別版 like new A6)

What is the definition of "中型 sporty sedan": Good handling, responsive, power delivery, styling .....
different people have different expectation.

And I like the slogan "Power is nothing without control" of Pirelli; which GS250, 523i, E250 is Ok for a "中型 sporty sedan".

It is more competitive for Lexus to launch the GS250 if the price is around $500k - $550k.

#46 - h9713325 :
2011-08-23 19:04:30

不過一般 E Class, 5 Series, A6, GS, XF 都 classified as Executive / mid-luxury Sedan.

米very good羅~
#50 - h9713325 :
2011-08-25 00:04:49

#51 - 411 :
2011-08-25 09:14:34

Over power..

Why compare the GS with other European competitors
Those competitors even have diesel, so does the HK GS come with diesel too??

It's just hard to accept a 3-number vehicle with such an underpowered engine as the 4GR

IMO this upcoming GS should at lesat come with a 3GR-FE for HK spec (ie. if Toyota decices D4-S is too much stress for HK weather), although 2GR-FSE is always preferred
