You may listen to the suggested music on Youtube first before you consider to buy the CD Debussy: 1) Suite bergamasque:- Clair de lune (tmm C hing has already mentioned it); 2) La plus que lente (Rubinstein's version is so slow that you will fall asleep for sure...); 3) Reverie; 4) Preludes, livre 1:- La fille aux cheveux de lin; 5) Arabesques:- No.1 RaveL: Pavane pour une infante defunte (fall asleep again!...) Granados 1) Escenas romanticas:- Epilogo; 2) El jardi d'Elisenda (Elisenda's Garden) 3) Three Impromptus, DLR V:6, 1-3 4) Danza Lenta Liszt: Consolation No.2 (suggest Horowitz' version) (I personally believe that this is the most beautiful charactor piece of Liszt) Chopin: Etude, Op.25, No.1 (suggest Horowitz' version, Lang Lang's version is so... ＞O＜ forget it) Rachmaninov: Ten Preludes Op.23, No.4 in D major:- Andante cantabile If you consider slow music other than piano solo, here you are: == Piano + Violin == Elgar: Chanson de matin, Op.15 No.2 Ponce (arranged by Heifetz): Estrellita Gershwin (arranged by Heifetz): Porgy and Bess:- Bess, You Is My Woman Godowsky: Alt Wien == Harp == A. Hasselmans: La Source (the spring) == Piano Concerto (slow and quiet) === Faure: Ballade for Piano & Orchestra, Op.19 Last suggestion (If you still cannot reduce your work pressure after having listened to the foregoing music pieces): CD:- Anne-Sophie Mutter . Recital 2000 (DGG 469 503-2) (including violin sonatas of Prokofiev, Webern & Respighi, a CD of high quality recordings, good 3-D effects) (I fall asleep by 10 mins every time I start to play this CD...) |
