| [#1] Oscar Peterson & Dizzy Gillespie - XDCD2 version Has always been a fan of Mr Peterson for his fluid and expressive keyboard style, no doubt one of the legendary pianists in jazz history. This recently released XRCD2 was a historical recording done in London in Nov 1974 and produced by none other than Mr Norman Granz. The whole album features only Peterson & Gillespie with no other instruments but it exactly show the masteries these two great musicians have over their music and instrument, creating great music with no help at all but themselves. Both players on occasions performed blindingly fast piano and trumpet work, yet with composure and fluidity, not just fast but simply magic. Renditions of classic tunes like Caravan and Autumn Leaves were also well worth getting this wonderful album, highly recommended.  |
