| [#1] BELAFONTE AT CARNEGIE HALL I listen to the song at "AV consignment shop" in Mongkok. I love the song, "Jamaica Farewell" very much because the singer performance and the recording quality is excellent. After gathering the comments from this AV forum, I brought a SACD at 2/f Hollywood in MongKok at HK$195 finally. http://www.review33.com/avforum/forum_message.php?topic=88021007104425& I wonder why the sound quality recorded in 1959 can be so great! I do not have SACD player and just play it as normal CD. The sound quality in my system is much poor than I heard in "AV consignment shop". I don't know the songs other than "Jamaica Farewell" and "Day O". However, I enjoy the song "Jamaica Farewell" very much too even my system can't perform it well. For me, it is worth to spend $195 even just for one song. Belafonte performed in this concert was different from the original record. The time between sentence he sang was a bit longer. I love this kind of expression. I love it more than the original. He showed me what a great singer was. I suggest all singers should buy one. You may learn a lot from him. Of course, I don't mean to ask you to copy it directly! By the way, I heard the CARNEGIE HALL was very famous and the effect in that hall was very good. Can anyone inform me what made it so famous? How good it was? Does it still exists? Thanks.  |
